Old Hard Drive

Hi

i took the hard drive out of an old desktop before i dumped it. The desktop had stopped working so I was unable to copy the files on the hard drive before dumping it. Is there anyway to connect it to get access to the photos and files that are on it? Is there some way to connect it to a laptop with a cable or something?

Yes you can get a USB caddy or enclosure. You just need to know if the drive is SATA (modern) or IDE (older)

If you have a new desktop it'll prin have a spare SATA power and data. Cable just open her up and plug it in to copy the data that way

IF its more than 6 years old it may be ide 3.5inch ,
not sata 3.5inch.pcs use 3.5 hds, ie no point getting 2.5inch caddy.

if installing drive, in pc,knock off pc power ,then remove pc power plug from esb wall socket.
