Hey guys, I have a quick question.

I got this problem at home were i have 230v coming from my breaker which supplies the whole ground floor, but in on of my rooms the voltage at the switch is 120v at best no light comes on in this room, but all other rooms have 230 volts.
Any idea what the problem is?

My dad thinks himself as a handy man put i'd prefer the opinion of electrician if at all possible.

    Thanks guys

what are you checking the voltage across(i.e live and neutral)
are you checking at the switch or light
    is there a dimmer fitted

    more info required if possible

across the switch and light fitting is the same voltage
No dimmer, just your standard switch and ceiling rose.

when the switch is been check between the common and switching terminals, and the common and earth, both give me 120v

Then at the light fitting neutral and live gives me 120v same with live and earth.

you need to check between live and neutral at the light fitting

you may not have a good earth at the switch and light point

get a bulb that works from another room and try that(it may be that simple)

Judging from the slightly unclear description of testing, a known working bulb would be my first suggestion if not already tried.
