I'd agree with getting rid of trades.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,491 ✭✭✭thebostoncrab

Gotta keep trades, it makes things exciting, just cap them at 5 wrestlers maximum.

Also I disagree with vito on trades; if someone has agreed to trade a midcarder for a major draw then why stop them? Maybe the major draw has no use on the person roster and won't suit anything they have planned but the midcarder will, if they wanna trade then let them trade.

Only thing Id ask is we avoid last year mess by not taking this as serious as it got. Sticking by rules is grand but serious derailments over tiny issues sucked the fun out of it all

I would add for the 24 hour rule, once the 24 hours lapse then the next man up gets to choose. Rather than put that guy to the back of the round let him pick whenever he does get online. He obviously misses out on the wrestlers that have been picked in his absence but at least the draft wont be held up further

I think there needs to be a "punishment" if you miss your window. Letting people choose whenever they get back at their own leisure could be slightly disruptive. Being pushed to the back of the line, to me, is the fairest option. I know unexpected events occur and people lose their connection, but for the most par, if you know in advance there could be a delay on your end, it's easy enough to PM someone a list of picks to make for you. It's not that I think people who miss their window due to unforeseen circumstances should be hurt badly for something outside their control. But I don't want to give people the idea that they can miss their window and then just register their pick whenever it suits them and they get back.
Also draft picks cant be traded. You can make a behind the scenes trade that involves you picking someone that your trading partner wants but trade doesnt come official until he's picked. This really only affects people who have drafted the max of 5 tag teams so he cant draft a sixth team thats really gonna be traded

    Agree here.
I would also like to see veto power for trades that are obviously one sided (think last year). That veto power rests with whoever is monitoring this game that isnt playing so bias cant come into it
Also I disagree with vito on trades; if someone has agreed to trade a midcarder for a major draw then why stop them? Maybe the major draw has no use on the person roster and won't suit anything they have planned but the midcarder will, if they wanna trade then let them trade.

I'm saying this as the person who got stung (imo) hardest last year with the whole Undertaker/Carlito trading fiasco. I agree with Spongey.

I always said I could completely understand why the trade I made was reversed. It wasn't a main eventer for a midcarder. It was one of the greatest ever legends for a jobber. I also said I thought it should have stood last year, because it says in the rules that if a loophole is found, it should be exploited, and there was no rule saying I couldn't make that trade.

That said, the rules also said that in the case of something weird happening, rules would be adjusted the following year, and I think that needs to be addressed.

I think, since BH, Campo and D2D are helping, we could say that if 3 of the 4 of us veto a trade, then the trade is blocked. This would be said knowing that, realistically, we're not going to block the majority of trades. Only ones that provide drastically unfair changes in balance. We're not going to start vetoing every trade, and the example TBC gives is one we'd probably be grand with. But I think there needs to be a protection layer there to give people warning that taking the mick with switches may result in a decision being made for the protection of the majority's happiness with the game.

I think rovert should enter this year. I'd love to see his picks and his writeup would be very intersting indeed.

And cena. I think cena should enter too.

I think the 2nd round order should at least be a reversal of the 1st round order.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

I've been thinking about this for the last 2 days and still unsure if i want to enter. I have the time...

+1 on the Draft needing rovert.

There won't be any acting the maggot on trades this year from me anyway.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

would be interesting to see to see Rovert participate alright just like how I found it very interesting seing boards.ie's Mr TNA Machismo fan take part last year and take Jawwwwnnnn Cena as his no.1 draft pick.

tbh I really dont think the veto thing will be an issue anyway, it was special cricumstances last year with folks drafting picks before dropping out of the draft, it could be as easy as making a rule that if someone drops out of the draft after trading those trades can be reviewed / reversed.

I would but my internet has been just going on the blink randomly, so I'd probably end up breaking the 24hr rule

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Ok, we've got 20 out of 20 names down.

I'm about to sit down and have lunch, then I've got to pop out for a bit. When I get back in, we'll do the first drawing of the names. I've got some nice pictures set up and all, and am looking forward to this.

    So to offically confirm this...

The First Round will begin at 4:00 PM, whereby I will post up the opening topic. The topic will contain a list of the rules, a list of participants, the announcement of the first stipulation and the first round draw orders.

So excited now. Are you? :P

Its like the Royal Rumble with the surprise return of veteran VinnyNumbers.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

for his sake i Hope he does take part but 1 of the names of participants (Baked Beans) has only 21 posts having registered 5 months ago so a reserve could have a good chance of getting a go (Cactus), if he (BB) isnt online too much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,542 ✭✭✭glenjamin

There's a few posters with only a handful of posts on here so I'd say the chances of a reserve being needed will be quite high.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    10 minutes...

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

The first round order is picked. The stipulation is typed up. 7 minutes until we're a gogo.

As usual, there's a stip for the first round. It's restrictive enough, but leaves plenty of big names available, while also making sure there's loads of big names set for round two.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    19?

    you can fúck off!!

at least the 1st stip is restrictive enough so I have a chance in round 2.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

I was worried if I got a high pick myself, I'd look like I was trying to rig it. No problem there with the draw

Anyway, I went and actually wrote a list of 20 "big" name talents that would fall under the category, and managed to do it easily enough despite my limited knowledge of one of the big territories. It's restrictive, but there's still a tonne of choice available imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 685 ✭✭✭Cactus Colm

I think the hardest part about being a spectator this year will be keeping my mouth shut.

That's a good new stipulation to start things off anyway!

HAHA, as soon as I saw her number, that was my thought too.

But will she pass up bigger names? The fun of the draft! :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,972 ✭✭✭orestes

First round, no Americans, hmmmmm, can't think of anyone I'd pick off the top of my head

    <_<

    >_>

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 418 ✭✭lebowskilite

I'd say there are a good few names out there likely to frustrate people when they go a-looking for selections, on the basis that you wouldn't actually think they were American-born.

    Edited for mentioning names!
Although, they were names that were ineligible in the current round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

i know you're new to this, but just to say, please don't mention ANY names of wrestlers that haven't been picked.

    please delete that post!!!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,520 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

Can I suggest people check for certain before posting that a name is not actually american just in case.

can tag teams be picked in stip rounds like this one (not that I would be picking one)?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

    Provided both are non-American, yeah

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

11 for me. A decent enough starting point. Have to say I really like this stip.

Also good to see Vince back.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

I've decided this round will determine what type of roster I create as a whole.

I've got a brawler, a high-flyer and a freak-show on my list of desired picks. If I get any of the three, I'll book the rest of my shows round them and their style...

    20th lol.

Don't suppose the next round is reversed by any chance!?:pac:

Just checked and Liz hasn't been on in a couple of days. Hope she makes it back in time.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

I did send her a "It's your pick" PM. Hope our first pick isn't a 24 hour rule already :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 89,019 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

Sorry for the delay all will have pick up soon

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

    Yeay!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

a quality duo start off the draft although not who I expected to be the 1st draft pick or who Liz might take.

With Wade Barett & Drew off to team Liz I might not end up drafting who I was considering now considering my decent number.

I want to use them much better than how WWE does and hope I can still get CC in the next round or two :p

Nice pick Liz, i had great fun writing for Barrett last year. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,366 ✭✭✭campo

Did not expect that pick, Since I got 18th thought I might end up getting them had a great storyline involved where Drew falls in love with Wade ah well maybe next year

    Pick Up :D

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,520 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

I miss Edge, good choice there. When I heard the stip he was the one that sprung to mind as a legend but a recent one making him current as well - he is deserving of the first single wrestler pick.

Wade and Drew give Liz a good starting point. So much that can be done with them and people like us can easily see them in much better positions than WWE have them.
