Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

US vs. Ireland iPad Questions

Hi - hoping for a bit of help.

We're Americans who very recently moved to Ireland. I bought my wife a new iPad for Christmas. She'll mostly use it for browsing the web, and our daughters will want to install a lot of apps, etc. One thing my wife will want to do is read books on the iPad - likely using iBooks and Kindle. We still have US credit/debit cards and a valid billing address in the US. Would we be limited if we registered with our Irish address/debit card, or should we register it to our US address?

    Thanks!

Do both, best of both worlds.

You may need a Proxy US IP address to access some Apps from the US iTunes Store that are not available here.

I'm not real sure how iBooks or Kindle work, so I guess the same question applies to Kindle as well - should/can I register with US address?

    Thanks!

No he won't. He can use a US account just fine over here without worrying about IPs.

Content is much better on US store, OP, so I'd say set up a US account. Most Irish users would do the same if they had the choice. If you find that you need an Irish account for something that's only on the Irish store you can always set up a separate account for that use at a later date.

Here is what I have found - and more importantly use daily...

    - All our kindles, imacs, macbooks, itouchs and ipads are American - all work fine with the US stores and seem happy enough over here - they run off the US stores as frankly they seem better value (MOST not ALL of the time(!))
    - Amazon Prime video's don't (you have to use a proxy) - same as playback for most of the US networks (e.g. HBO NBC etc)
    - Nook needs a proxy to buy too

    Tom

P.S. Digressing... Vonage and Ooma work fine on our eircom DSL too... ;) (as does my T-Mobile Wifi calling(!))
