maybe one day in the future expats and immigrants will just be human beings residing where they want on the land mass of their choice, your consciousness in your head is the real you, you are not your birthplace or the nation state jurisdiction you randomly happened to be born in.

Had one of the strangest tbh, spent Christmas Eve midnight to 2am in a Native American pueblo up on top of a mesa above a 300ft cliff, miles out in the desert, no electricity, bonfires and candlelight only for light, watching traditional Buffalo and Deer dances in a mission church built in 1625.

Twasn't like your average midnight mass to say the least.

An expat leaves because they want to and an emigrant leaves because they have to.

Something like that? I'm just guessing...

Having a smoke in the shed, oh is murdering the remains of the lamb for a curry tray we will have later.

Haven't been in Ireland for Christmas 5 years running.

Might watch the office later with a beer.

    Eindhoven, Netherlands

An *expatriate* (in abbreviated form,*expat*) is a person temporarily or permanently residing
in a country and culture other than that of the person's upbringing. The word comes from theLatin
     terms "ex
    " ("out of") and "patria
    "("country, fatherland").

    So brave.

My loyalties will not be bound by national borders, or confined in time by one nation's history, or limited in the spiritual dimension by one language and culture. I pledge my allegiance to the damned human race, and my everlasting love to the green hills of Earth, and my intimations of glory to the singing stars, to the very end of space and time.
