I feel like this is a very poor decision. The forward is clearly interfering with play, like he actually trys to backhell the ball but it doesn't get to him, yet Mike Dean seems to have understood this yet overruled the linesman. I'd be keen to know if I'm missing something or that actually isn't offside.

The assistant has changed his mind! As Newcastle's players (and manager) shouted and ranted, and De Gea prepared to take the free-kick, Mike Dean has a little chat with his assistant and gives the goal. Personally, if a defender sticks his leg out to stop the ball reaching the striker standing behind him, and diverts it into the net, and that striker was clearly offside, then surely the striker was influencing play, and offside was indeed the correct decision. Surely?

Evra two forrible bits of defending.

Firstly miles out of position for the goal and then player takes the ball around him as if he wasn't there.

Mike Dean is usually pro United tbf. Good to see he's came to the right decision here, although I suspect he'll rectify that "error" in the second half.

Thank feck I read that post. Now I can safely disregard your previous view that giving the goal was the right decision as you don't even understand the basics of the offside rule so can't know much about football.
