Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Newcastle are a very poor side. Pardew was sacked in League 1 not long ago.

Another good bit of play by Giggs taking that off Hernandez and making a break forward winning the free kick. Him, Hernandez and Van Persie are at least making an effort to make things happen so far. Valencia, Scholes and Carrick are happy to trot around and two of them should be taken off at half time.

If Utd defend like this in the Bernabeu the tie will be over after the first leg.
Carrick,Scholes and Giggs are like 3 geriatrics in midfield.

There is little chance Fergie goes with Scholes and Giggs against Real in the Bernabeu in fairness

    i hope anyways

United are the best team at coming back from being behind especially at home. Too early for Newcastle to go ahead IMHO.

Look at you trying to lull us United fans into a false sense of hope. Oh ya cheeky divil ya. I won't be listening to your tripe.

    Soft free kick

    Cleverley for Scholes.

I'd even bring on Buttner for Evra.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

Yeah, and he is playing hospital pass after hospital pass.
Only watching from about 20 mins and honestly haven't seen him

You just know that United only have to turn it on for 10 minutes and they will probably win the game. I can't believe just how poor they have being in that first half though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭double GG

Probably one of the worst performances for a long long time! Our play deserves us to be one down but I still don't know how it wasn't given as offside.

SAF better tear into them now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

At least Fergie has his excuse ready made if they draw/lose by one.

So you think United wont win?

Look at the stats, United are always 2-1 down and win 3-2.

    Nice one Newcastle.

United @ 6/4, can't lose either way. United dropping points or money :p

What about the token asian advertising midfielder? Why not bring him on?

If by Evra you mean Giggs I totally agree with you.

That's a common enough tactic as a defender.

I'd say so. But it's not allowed though. If cisse wasn't being pushed he would have been goalside of Evans and in an onside position.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,783 ✭✭✭Pj!

Giggs isn't the problem out there today

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭DB10

Bring Nick Powell on, the old lads dont have legs. NU have a fast midfield.

    I predict 4-2 United.

    Cleverley for Scholes.

I'd even bring on Buttner for Evra.

Rather see Vidic on for Evans. Hes having a shocker. Own goal and yellow card in 45mins (and a goal too obviously but was a tap in). More likely to get sent off than improve in the 2nd half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,299 ✭✭✭spiralism

Get Cleverley on for Scholes. We'll have to stick with Giggs because we have nothing left in terms of depth on the wings.

I would not be backing utd they may well come back but at 6/4 it's a shocking price they way they are playing this year.

Worth a read over half time: http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/afdeveloping/refereeing/law_11_offside_en_47383.pdf "interfering with play" part. I really have too much time on my hands.

He just would have been less offside but still offside.

    Look at the stats.

The bookies are always stung by MU comebacks.

6/4 is a good price. If I only I had money in my account now.

We need to score, Evra's doing sweet FA at the back and going forward. Buttner will get forward imo.

but the amount of times they come back to win is why the price is so low.

Yes because all Asians can't play football and are in teams for advertising. Jesus christ

A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is touched or played by a team-mate is only committing an offside offence if, in the opinion of the referee, he becomes actively involved in play by:

    Interfering with play
    Playing or touching the ball

    Interfering with an opponent
Preventing the opponent from playing the ball by obstructing the player's sight or intentionally distracting the opponent

Gaining an advantage by being in an offside position
Playing the ball after the ball has rebounded off the goal, the goalkeeper, or any opponent[

    1. Cisse didn't touch the ball, 2. He didnt prevent the opponent from playing the ball, intentionally distracting Evans is debatable and 3. again he didnt play it after Evans touched it.

If Evans didn't touch it and Cisse got the ball it would have been offside. Not offside according to the rules IMO.
