Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You could tell from Being Liverpool that BR loved Shelvey going over for his little chats. I think hes afraid of the older players

The quality of Liverpool's first touch has been seriously lacking and has been a big factor in the scoreline here.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,391 ✭✭✭PhiloCypher

Leaving Shelvey on is indefensible, when we play well he is a passenger and when we play poorly he is a liability.

I really don't understand this. Liverpool are 2 goals down yet are knocking it around the back like they are protecting a 2 goal lead at home? Surely a little more direct approach is needed?

Rodgers doesn't seem to have a plan b.

Walters has been fantastic tonight! Never stopped running and thoroughly deserved his goals. MOTM by a country mile.

Stoke have played very well tonight, Liverpool seem to be carrying a passenger or two.

Sterling has barely had a touch of the ball since coming on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭double GG

Shelvey with a little kick out there as far as I could see, anyone get a replay or good look at that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,229 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Shelvey is a nothing player. Just a waste of space.

Apart from his performance tonight there is a thug/Lee Bowyer element to his character that I really don't like.

Showed how he had a go at Alex Ferguson earlier this year.

He is only young but he should be nowhere near the starting 11.

We had a good first half imo.

    Our defending has been cowardly.

Simple as that in my book.

    Temper, temper lads.

Stoke have played good football tonight at times, which is a suprise. No clean sheet though maybe that's the cost.

    I know.

    Absolutely pathetic.

It has been over half an hour since Stoke's third goal and they look the most likely.

Indeed. Not the right game for him at all, not that Liverpool have any other options.

Whelan showing his International class there.

Tackles like that from Whelan are a pain in the arse.

A yellow is never adequate for the situation he just robbed us.

Luis could have had a shot if not for Henderson running across him. Jesus.

Yeah first half was okay, but there is a serious lack of creativity in the side, and bringing on Henderson would hardly help that.

    Serious investment is needed.

Also why hasn't BR taken Suarez off? He has been limping for the past 15 minutes? The game is lost take him off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,555 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Why is there no one rushing in on that Suarez ball? Happens all the time.
Sturidge should be on that next month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Webb should do Shelvey a favour and send him off.

Are you seriously asking for a red card for that tackle by Whelan???
Do you know the rules of the game? Definite yellow card, never a red.

Yeah it's hard to take. Real goalscoring opportunities stopped at the expense of only a yellow card but what other punishment could be given?

This was always going to be an up hill struggle for Pool, sher even the top teams struggle playing away to Stoke.

2 saves from Begovic throughout the whole match. should've thrown Coates on up front alongside Suarez, couldn't have been any more toothless.

Stoke normally play really defensive football, and the games normally end up 0-0 with Stoke getting a clean sheet, but not scoring. Tonight they've played some good attacking football, but they've looked open at the back and could have conceded more than 1 if Liverpool had someone better than Shelvey. They need to find a balance between the two.

I think those sort of tackles should be a red. Pure deliberate cynical fouls to stop an attack. No attempt to get the ball.

That is probably the stupidest post I have had directed at me in a Liverpool thread.

You seriously need to learn how to read.
