Can't get Beats Solo HD headphones working with Xperia Play R800i

Hi all,

I got my son a pair of Beats Solo HD headphones for Xmas (see http://www.beatsbydre.com/headphones/beats-solohd/beats-solohd,default,pd.html) but when he plugs them into his Android phone (a Sony Xperia Play R800i) an error pops up saying "Accessory not supported". I wouldn't be too bothered if it just referred to the remote/mic on the headphones not being compatible with the phone but they don't even function as a regular pair of headphones i.e. no sound through them when plugged into the phone and music is playing.

BTW, i have checked the headphones and they work 100% including remote/mic in my own phone which is also an Android phone.

Any ideas how I can get these working with the Sony Xperia Play R800i???

I think that you will need a third party adapter to get the beats working on Xperia play.

Thanks Jarren, that's explained it all right. I installed the toggleheadset2 app/widget and when the mic button is pressed (and kept pressed) on the headphones the sound is perfect but you have to keep the button physically pressed down in order to have decent sound quality and that's not viable.

Any chance of a link to an appropriate adapter??

In the link is says only for Iphones so it won't do the trick
