I have a few dormer windows (see pic attached) on to which I would like to attach a horizontal window box.

As dormer windows don't allow for window boxes to be placed on something, they need to be attached to the side of where the window is.

I am just wondering how this is possible? What can I attach the frame of the window box to?

I would appreciate if anyone could offer some advice on this.

    Thanks

you could get a steel fabracator to make a frame with a metal box to rest on the led flashing a be secured to the masonary each side of the window, about €200 fitted i would estimate

Can I offer the suggestion that a window box in that situation would look rather odd. Also it would stop you from opening the windows. Which would prevent you from watering it.

Tricky with no window reveal either, but anything is possible. :) are they for all year, or just summer?

How about more of a rectangular hanging basket idea? Put hooks in either side of your masonary there, strong ones. Then maybe modify a window box to have some way of hanging it from either side, with chains. Like below?

Or create a frame to mount and put the window box in that frame..

If it was me, I would try to construct a simple wooden box to fit the slant of the roof neatly, as finding something so specialised on the market will be tricky.
