Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just found a young cow has aborted twins after being in calf 6 months. There were a lot of people shooting fowl in the area would the fright have caused it or could it be brucellosis ? Or is this something that happens a lot with twins?

Possibly if she's a nervous type; unlikely but could be a different infectious agent; yes, it is more likely with twins.

Keep her isolated until discharges have ceased. Talk to your vet. I believe it is still an obligation to blood for Brucellosis all aborted animals. At that visit you could discuss whether other diseases should be checked for also. You could also retain the foetuses and cleaning to send to a lab. They may be open despite the time of year.

Don't know Bob, just seems to happen that way.

She is eating but I don't think she's cleaned yet. Is this normal

Yes, it's normal enough that in abortions the cleanings are retained. You should ring your vet for advice.
