Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

NZ vs Oz

    Hey folks,

    Been traveling for the last 7 months. Month in Thailand, 6 months traveling around Oz and have finally settled in Sydney to work for 6 months to get the funds back to a reasonable amount. Not bothered about getting sponsored as me and the mrs are having to much fun travelling around at the moment so was planning to move to New Zealand in June.

    What is the rent like in comparison to Oz? I live in Sydney and pay $520 a week which is crazy money for me but we are both working and wanted to live in the city. Needed to pay 4 weeks rent and a 4 week bond up front to get the apartment for 6 months which was pretty crippling. Is this usually the same in NZ?

    Will likely travel around NZ for a couple of months before we settle down and get a place and job etc. Any suggestions of where to go in June and places/ hostels to stay would be greatly appreciated. Have a flight in to Auckland at the moment.

    Wait till Spring/Summer if you can to come over, the weather will be fairly pants in June except for up North.

    Rent in Wellington varies from $150 per week per room for a house/flatshare in the suburbs up to $200-400 for a really nice CBD pad. Take a look at the property section on www.trademe.co.nz for listings. Yeah often you have to pay similar bonds to what you describe, the length of the agreement will depend on whether its managed by a property company but yeah can be 6-12 months. Pretty much always unfurnished too.
