Great offensive mind and knows how to work with QBs properly. Very intelligent coach and the Bears get exactly what they need an offense guy.

Sounds positive for the Bears. Has he been NFL Headcoach before?

Nope CFL was his first HC gig but he was coach in the NFL as a QB/OC for 20 years before hitting Canada. In 4 seasons in Canada he has 2 Grey Cups.

Chip Kelly to Eagles it seems.
    Chris Mortensen ‏@mortreport

Chip Kelly is the new coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, according to league sources. No announcement yet.

Nfl.com reporting that as well. Big u-turn from Kelly

All a ploy to milk the Eagles out of more money imo

I doubt money was ever the problem, I'd say it was more likely to get more control. I never thought he'd stick around at Oregon given what the future holds for them, so I'm not too surprised at the U-turn.

Also, I'm sure Monte Kiffin is pissed as hell right now :pac:

The Ducks must feel dicked around. The two college Kellys are really covering themselves in mud this off-season.

The NCAA are going to come down with some sort of sanctions after their investigation some time soon. Chip Kelly was getting the Fook out of dodge before he gets caught up in whatever the NCAA think they have found.

    What investigation is this?

Google is your friend for more on it. Oddly enough it hasnt been talked about a lot more in the more main stream places. Touched on for the most part but not in depth. id say once the investigation is complete we will learn more.

Tom Moore would be a great fit though, we're basically running his offence anyways.
The one thing that will go against Moore is that Fox prefers to work with coaches he has a history with (and trusts) - particularly at the coordinator positions. Whisenhunt has a long history with Fox - Moore has zero history with Fox.

    Happy days.

Gutted about Kelly leaving Oregon though :(

Great news for the Eagles! I'm excited to see what Kelly can do but you'd have to ask questions about how long it took for any coach to accept the Eagles job, there was clearly a lot of reservations about the structure of the organisation so I would imagine that Kelly has been given a large degree of control in all decisions for him to have actually taken the job,

I defintely didnt expect to wake up this morning and see him as the birds next coach!

Seem a crazy stat on twitter that Kelly's offences averaged over 600 yards and 50 points against Kiffins defences!!

I would imagine it was simply a difficult decision for him to leave Oregon, and that he wouldn't do so unless the perfect job conditions were offered.

He's had the same staff for 4 years at Oregon, and would have been one of the 2 best teams going into next season. That elusive championship must have been a factor, and trust me, his wages weren't in any way lacking.

Honestly though Kelly was playing for more money and the right deal because he knows with the next few years the NCAA investigation will come to head and the media will jump all over it and sanctions of some sort will be made. Getting out now gets him right out of the firing line.

Ken Whisenhunt is the Chargers new OC.

Probably would have been the head coach if the Broncos had won.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

Jags have appointed Seahawks Defensive co-ordinator Gus Bradley as Head Coach.

Happy enough with that, lots of reports I've read say he is head coach material, I'm hoping he will try to bring Matt Flynn with him.

Disappointed with this - had hoped he would end up replacing McCoy with the Broncos.

I would suggest Iggles fans, or anyone curious about what Chip Kelly brings to the table, check out FishDuck.com - and specifically this section. It's a cracking site, though too much of it once stops me from remembering anything I've just read, but then again I do have the attention span of a goldfish.

Dude on Fishduck.com is a tad weird though isnt he. Brilliant with his breakdowns and awesome website been looking at it since he first started but a strange strange man.

Arians has replaced one the best DC's in the league for Todd Bowles. They've gotten rid of the one thing they had going for them(Horton) for a 60 year old rookie HC.

Starting to regret it already. 4 teams left -- have to pick someone. TBH I'd be happy to see anyone win except SF.

Edit: agree they shouldn't have fired Horton. But getting BA as HC is a big boon for them IMO. Seperate issue really.

Wonder did these figures have anything to do with the fact a certain Phil Knight was willing to pay anything to keep him at Oregon!
Eagles made Kelly one of 10 highest paid NFL coaches, giving him a 5-yr deal worth right around $32.5 million, an average of $6.5m per year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Another Black Monday is almost upon us. Who do you think will get the chop this year?

Redskins, Lions, Cowboys, Jets, Titans, Vikings and probably Raiders will all be looking for new head coaches I think. Harsh on Ryan and Allen IMO if it happens, probably harsh on Munchak too.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 21,693 Mod ✭✭✭✭helimachoptor

Titans have improved from last year no doubt about that, but have they improved enough? I think if bud Adams is alive then Munch is a goner but who knows now tbh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,404 ✭✭✭spiritcrusher

If the Jets sack Ryan then they're idiots. Talent-wise that team should be down near the bottom but that guy has coached them to 7 wins. And not always against crap opposition. He's done well this year imo

Really shows how much can change in a year in the NFL. This time last year it was 50/50 whether Ron Rivera would keep his job. Now he's one of the favorites for coach of the year!

Not too mention the guys saying how bad Arians was gonna be for the Cardinals :o

Bad luck being in the strongest division in the NFL is the only reason the Cardinals may miss out on being in the playoffs. A potential 11-5 season and not making the playoffs (assuming the Saints win vs the Buccaneers) has to be soul destroying for any team.

Can't imagine Schwartz will be too far behind. Although there's talk he'll be kept because he's owed so much. If so, the Lions deserve everything they get.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

Wow they really gave him a fair chance. 1 year in which the starting QB went down every few weeks. Was he really expected to turn that disaster of a franchise around in 1 year? Crazy how keen owners are to fire the HC, as if they might stumble upon a great one who will turn it all around in one year despite having little talent on the roster.

Rex is staying, great decision IMO:

agreed, has absolutely left them in an awful state, the new head coach will have some job om his hands, probably one of the most unattractive vacancies to potential applicants i would say.

Yeah and working for dan Snyder must be such an inviting prospect.
