Hi all, had the HKC house alarm fitted and a couple of weeks later had the modum added to allow a text message be sent if the alarm is triggered- years later and it has occured to me that part of the reason for our very poor broadband signal in our home is that the phone cable going into the alarm control box may not be filtered- looked into the control box and its a sea of cables and wires! clueless! any advice pitched at a very non techie person would be greatly appreciated

well not sure but you could easily take wires out of dialler and see does it improve your broadband. If its the old text dialler for the hkc sw812 then the dialler is the small pcb which is mounted on the bigger pcb and will have 4 terminals with telephone cable going in I think it's labelled abcd. phone wire coming into you home probably goes into ab through the dialler and out to your computer and telephone handsets etc. via terminals c and d.
Take cables out and join cable from a to c and b to d by twisting them together which simply bypasses the dialler then check if it improves your broadband. if it does you know its the dialler in the alarm which is causing the trouble.
