15 seconds to win it. Probably quick one to get yards and then the hail mary.
    Clock starts on the punt!

well done Niners. Im delighted Falcons would have no business in the bowl afainst the Pats or Ravens. At least now we can look forward to the SB knowing it will be a good game

Congrats to 49ers. They deserve it after getting so close against us last year. Will be rooting for them in the SB.

Atlanta threw this away. Turnover central in the third killed them.

    Disgraceful.

Does Mike Smith Keep his job?

No reason to fire him. Would be crazy. But chances are they don't meet the playoffs next year if Tony retires.

Now it's time for the main event

Will the Ray Lewis Retirement Tour of the Americas take him to New Orleans in The Har-Bowl? Or will it be the fairytale script of Tom Brady vs his boyhood, hometown team who passed up the chance to draft him when they badly needed a Quarterback?

Hope this is a cracker. Hope even moreso that it's a stroll in the park, but I doubt it :o

    Well done San Fran.

    Should be some game upcoming.

Im rooting for the niners. Id love to see Ray Lewis get another ring before retiring.

Hard to see past Brady though.

Right, so Atlanta led by 17, got a turnover at their own goal line, had the ball on the SF 15 with two minutes left, had Matt Ryan miss an open Tony Gonzalez on 4th and 4 for a TD and lost at home.

Only the Falcons. Only the Falcons.

Least they pushed though and i dont feel like a twat.

Good good, would be a disgrace...

So if 49ers win the Superbowl, will that make Kaepernick the first Rookie QB to win it? Or was Big Ben a rookie when he won his first?

It's hardly a fairy tale game of SF vs NE. A nice battle of the dynasties I guess.

Time to bring this out again

Which Patriot is it going to be tonight?!

They are going to find it very tough next year if Abraham and Tony retire. They need a pass rusher badly and obviously need a TE to replace Tony.

Does Mike Smith Keep his job?

Is Matt Ryan their man? It's hard to criticise a guy who threw 3 TD's and over 300 yards, but ZERO points in the second and all those turnovers....

Hopefully this is the Ray Lewis Retirement Party. All dressed up in my nice white suit for it.

    No Pollard injuries please!

    Kaepernik isn't a rookie. He's a 2nd year player.

Roethlisberger wasn't a rookie when he won it.

They will be in the mix with Julio Jones.

As great as Jones was Gonzales has been the difference maker in this team. Without they would not have gotten as far as they did.

Abraham can be replaced with plenty good pass-rushers in the 1st. Gonzales would be loss but Ryan has two great targets in White n Jones so they can surely pick up a complement in free agency or draft (Zach Ertz or Brandon Myers)

A resounding yes, yes he is. I don't think there's any question about it, and I'm surprised you'd even consider him not being!

Hes not a rookie. Ben didnt win his first year.

Think Terry Bradshaw might have though too lazy to check

Am i hearing this correctly on CBS? People are campaigning to expand the Rooney Rule because they're complaining that not enough minorities are getting coaching jobs? Ridiculous political ****e.

Not that easy. The drop off between the elite TE's and your average TE is massive.

So ravens have to beat pats and sf to finish the fairytale.

Big task, they have the hardest possible route right now.
Can they, why do I get the feeling its in the stars....

    Neither are/were Rookies

You got to have a look a the defence. Matt Ryan gave them time off the field when the 49ers were getting pounded. Opening the gap was a great start they let the 49ers walk through them.

It was a strange game as both defences were poor overall.

Its a problem in most sports, its ridiculous in soccer.

I dont think positive discrimination is the answer though.

Was Big Vern a tad bit annoyed there? Wasn't the most graceful way of asking the question. "Vernon, we'd kind of forgotten about you for a while...."

No Rookie QB has won it. In fact, pretty sure no Rookie has made the Super Bowl.

Kaepernick to do a Brady on it?

Looking for a reaction and thankfully Davies made it clear it's bigger than him and all about the team which was great!

Loved the way Smith was so pumped in the locker room there, no sign of bitterness at all

Agreed with that but it's up to the QB to elevate guys. Eli hasn't had an elite TE in years but turned Boss, Ballard and now Bennett into very serviceable guys.

It's up to Matt Ryan to do that now.
