Is it a big job to have all door handles in the house changed?

The ones we have are a golden colour and would like to change to a better quality in black but just wondering would it be a huge job?

no they are just held on with a few screws just make sure the new ones are same size or slightly bigger to cover the marks on the door that the old ones will have left.

Agreed, but not always easy to do in practice. The handles in our house are way past their best, and need replacing, but the builder must have got an end-of-line job lot of handles with extra-long escutcheon plates because we've not been able to source anything at all that will cover the same area, despite scouring every door furniture catalogue in existence. The prospect of painting every single door in the house doesn't appeal either :)

There is also the issue of the hinges, do you want them in any particular shade also.

just do not get handles with weak springs, other than that try to get over sized handles, as mentioned above it will cover screw holes from the old ones.
