Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

45th anniversary of the Munich Air Crash on the 6th.
Dunno if there's any commemoration or anything though.

The Olympic stadium is right across the road from BMW.Historic in itself. It's a really easy city to get around.Great u-bahn and S-bahn etc.
Head in to Odeonsplatz, lots to see around there.Museums, architecture etc. The Deutches museum is a must see,it's on the banks of the river Isar.Get off at Isartor.

I'd second the Deutsches Museum - you could spend a week there, if memory serves me right!

Also make sure to wrap up warm and have a beer (or two) at the biergarten by the lake in the Englischer Garten (Odeonsplatz or Universitat U-Bahn stop).

Dachau is also really well worth a visit - they have a huge museum and the camp itself is just really atmospheric - not the most cheerful or uplifting but I highly recommend a visit. S-Bahn to Dachau and bus from the station.

Yep, was there in October - the machines in the stations will give you a central zone (which is huge) ticket for three days for 13 euros or something like that.

Neuschwanstein is worth a look, only a 2 hour drive away.

Went on a school tour to Munich years ago and we went to Salzburg for a day trip - about an hour and a half from Munich - it was stunning. We went to the salt mines and also up the Zugspitze mountain where there is skiing - we didn't actually go skiing though:(

That's just a suggestion if you want to/have the time to see somewhere else.

We went to Neuschwanstein Castle - it's like the Cinderella castle on the outside!! (well, sort of!) We didn't get to go inside though - it was closed unfortunately

We also went to Dachau and it was a very moving experience I have to say so that is definitely worth a visit.

The Olympic Park is worth going to see, near the BMw Mueseum, on the U3. Worth looking at.

Deutsches Mueseum is a must see, fascinating place to spend a couple of hours. To be honest you can just stroll around Marienplatz and Odeonsplatz for a while and marvel at the architechture. That's worth doing.

Recreation wise, you could do worse than paying a trip to Hofbrauhaus although it is very touristy and comercialised. If the weather is nice then the Englischer Garten would be nice, and you can drink in one of the beer gardens, Chinesicher Turma and I can't remember the name of the one by the river.

Nightlife, if you're interested, from Konigsplatz, through Karlsplatz and onto Sendlinger Tour will serve you well if you're looking to go clubbing. Or go to Kultfabrik. That's mad craic, a wild night if you're looking for one!

visit the Hofbrauhaus beer hall in city centre right beside hard rock cafe open from 11am - 23.30pm absolutley massive place its worth a visit it was adolf hitlers old stomping ground for nazi party meetings on his way to power and the big jugs of beer are brillant and live band playing oompah music glaskrug.jpg

may be worth your while to google munich to get a idea of places to visit can go far wrong with all day or multi-day passes on trams & trains you will find plenty to keep you occupied plenty of other towns or countries austria / czech republic withing a couple hours train journey.

if your into football check out fixtures for bayern munich or tsv 1860 both play at the Allianz Arena but word is it is nearly impossible to get tickets for Bayern home games

And if youre on the lash forget about Maximillianstrasse and just head straight to Kunstpark Ost. Its a lot of fun, and a bit messy.
Just DO NOT **** with the bouncers.
