Here's a new track from a rapper from Minnesota called Homeless. I pretty sure i've put some of his stuff here before. Every new release from him is better and more polished than the last.

Is that seriously a crowd of people who have gone to see a guy press the play button and shout over tracks?

That would absolutely do my head in.

    Probably filler between sets.

A bit closer to home, Bitter Rocc has released a new EP today called MMXIII. Hot Press announced the release earlier and have a stream on:

    http://www.hotpress.com/bitterrocc/index.html

I'm only a few tracks in and it sounds great.

He also has a release party tomorrow night in the Twisted Pepper.

New Big Daddy Kane "Nite & Day" Produced by Marco Polo. Nice track.

Lupe Fiasco has released a song in dedication to Jonylah Watkins, a 6 month old baby who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Chicago a few days ago. Deep track, you can read more about the tragic story here

On a side note, Breaking Bad fans might recognise the beat.

Hope Lil Wayne gets well soon, I'm not a fan of his music post 09 but I wouldn't like to see him in this condition, He has 4 young kids who depend on him.

    lamar's last verse is crazy.

Was jay that bad or was lamar that good on it? i think jay was alright to be fair but lamar doesnt really let anyone out do him on a track which is great imo because nothing annoys me more than when rappers let others own their tracks when featured on them.

    Jay wasn't that bad
its just Kendrick's 2nd verse was great

Jay's voice does not suit the beat. Lamar could read the ingredients of a packet of tayto over that beat and it would sound good.

I'm interested in people's opinion on this...

Dead Prez released a new album back in January called Information Age...still spouting the same predictable nonsense about socialism and black power as their previous two albums. You probably haven't heard about it as they are generally unknown outside of America. However, there was one track from the album called Dirty White Girl. Youtube link here

How can they get away with such blatant racism? Needless to say, any song called Dirty Black Bítch wouldn't get released. So why do we tolerate it? I like hip-hop but I'm proud of my race and heritage as a white man. In the past Dead Prez have also made videos announcing their disgust and disrespect for their white fans. The mind boggles why any self-respecting person would even go to their shows to hear racial abuse for an hour.

Oh dear! Just you go back to your Soulja Boy albums mate.

Where did I say I listen to Soulja Boy?
Would you like to see your sister at a Dead Prez show getting "Dirty White Girl" yelled at her? Do you hate the colour of your white skin?

    And I'm not your "mate".

Personally i dont give a fúck, if it's racist towards either white or black people i wont listen to it, if you dont wanna here racism on their tracks i've a simple solution for you, dont listen to them!

Militant hip hop isnt my cup of tea but i love Amerikkkas most wanted, that was a great album, cube was in his prime. In saying that militant hip hop isnt particularly racist either, it's just pro-black, us crackers hear a black man taking pride in his race and suddenly get scared and think we're being discriminated against or racially slurred.

We seem to forget that the white man in america enslaved and oppressed the black man for years, you cant expect them all to suddenly start loving us again, there's obviously gonna be a few artists bearing that grudge and it comes out in their music. That's like expecting the wolfe tones to make a tribute to the queen when she dies.

Chill out man, for every anti-white hip hop track out there im sure there's a hundred anti-black people songs

There are many many many songs about women and their race. Dead Prez are in general viewed as an outspoken group, i think its a case that they have made the song rather than any views expressed in the song.

Pretty sure that Murs and Slug have a song about dark skinned white girls.

    Black Star have this:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpBH_e519uY

What about Ms Fat Booty as well by Mos Def?

    Murs & 9th Wonder have this -> http://youtu.be/oIdkaLLxfkM

Basically, there a loads of song about women, it all depends how you interpret them and if they affect you.

I would like to add that there are lots and lots of contentious topics in Hip Hop depending on how you wish to interpret lyrics and songs.

Edit: Souljah Boy may not be the best example of someone who respects women either, doesn't he like to 'superman dem ho's' or something like that. If you dont know the context of 'superman' her, you should hit google.

I searched on Urban Dictionary for a definition and this is what they said:
To consistently lie to a ho whilst wearing glasses.

That doesn't seem too bad :pac:.

    ^^^ Brilliant :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,132 ✭✭✭Andy_rse

Come on, Im referring to the fact that its not literally about white girls. The Soulja Boy reference was about music with no meaning or substance.

Urban Dictionary has it wrong then. It's actually ejaculating on a girls upper back and then throwing a sheet to the sticky bit. Essentially giving her a cape.

I had a feeling my quote would be lost in translation. I saw the actual definition but chose to put down the glasses one.

Of all those, my "favourite" is the David Blaine. Anyone that has listened to Big Boi's debut will know what I'm on about.

Saw this trailer for Ghostface's album today. Wish more artists put out trailers for albums. Some of them can be quite good.

The trailer that Fabolous did before dropping TINC3 was great. Pity that the mixtape was garbage.

No. It seems to be a collab with another producer called Danny Diggs. They've decided to take an original song and then both of them flip it. So you've got four songs and two version of each.

You can get it here for free.

EDIT: Really enjoying what I've heard so far. The Expert has picked up where he left off with the Neckbreakers beat tape.

Best of all, it's short and won't take up much memory on my iTunes. I'm really struggling these days.

There's to be more things from The Expert this year as well. I was having a chat with him last week about what is on the horizon, and the new stuff (besides what is scheduled this year already that I know about) he told me about has me excited. I'm going to try get to his studio this weekend to get some advanced listens.

I got my hands on the delux edition, overall it's pretty darn good. The standard on the album is very good, but there are some songs that just don't fit the album and should have been cut. I particularly like that Juice track.

Album drops in ten days, hopefully leaks soon.

The Apollo Brown version of Ghostface's album is being released on cassette. You can get it for free by ordering the album from Soul Temple Records. A sampler can be heard in the link below.

    http://soultemplemusic.bandcamp.com/track/the-brown-tape-sampler
Soul Temple Records will be releasing an alternate version of the Ghostface Killah + Adrian Younge album Twelve Reasons To Die created by critically-acclaimed, detroit-based producer Apollo Brown. It will be released as a limited edition cassette.

These tapes will be given away for free with the purchase of the CD or LP of Twelve Reasons To Die at participating Record Store Day independent record shops across the USA. Fans without access to a participating retailer can get a free copy of the tape, while supplies last, with purchase of the album from: http://SoulTempleMusic.Bandcamp.com/

I was going to buy the album on Amazon, but I think I'll get it from that site now. It's only another £2 more.

I don't think I've seen as many 'extras' attached to a project before. I really hope that it lives up to the hype.

Quality, this album is lined up to be a classic, every song i've heard so far off it are savage! Adrian Young and Rza are a deadly combination.
