    Being rested I believe

Bit strange, hasn't had huge game time to warrant a rest.

Trying to go out wide too early. Need to give the forwards the ball for a while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,708 ✭✭✭ScissorPaperRock

Munster aren't forcing anyone to commit to tackles before going wide. It's a waste of time.

Downey is hanging out on the wing a lot with Dougie appearing a lot as second receiver.

Very flat from Munster so far.

Munster need to earn the right to go wide a bit more..

Like how aggressively Kilcoyne takes the ball on, more consistent carrier than Healy IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

That's what Downey CAN do, why don't we see more of it?!

    What was that about

A bit negative from Cardiff to run the ball out where they were, surely they could have gone for a dropgoal?

This game is pretty dead, Munster very poor. They need to give good service to Downey and let him make some holes in the defence, I don't understand why he's rarely used in attack.

Not a great first half. Very shaky. Need to use the forwards to make them tackle and create space and then go wide. Need the win before next weekend

Bit more lumbering than Healy though, not as quick if he gets through the first tackle

Still see a win but maybe a few off the bench wouldn't surprise me if Munster just clicked in 2nd half and got 4 tries

Botha, Stander, Lualala and Keatley to change it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 185 ✭✭rchendz92

Disappointing game. hope the second half is a lot livelier, like the second half was in Ulster-Scarlets last night.

Agreed on Kilcoyne, always looks confident carrying, great to see. Still think Court is the second best LH at the moment but Kilcoyne has a bright future.

Pretty sh!t game. Real lack of ball carrying by the forwards, apart from maybe Kilcoyne. Munster are going nowhere.

I think Coughlan has played well too. I've barely noticed TOD or Dougall.

    Very disappointing so far.

We've looked decent at times but some poor decision-making and sloppiness have hurt us inside their 22. We've got into their 22 more than the last few weeks but we can't finish them off.

Cardiff haven't just collapsed, they've not been particularly good but their defence has been a bit better than at times this season. Who's their scrum-half? Don't really rate him. Navidi and Copeland have been good though.

Keatley might be better at unlocking their defence. Ryan did really will to prevent Patchell from scoring a try. And I'm assuming Murray isn't coming back?? Big blow imo.

Excellent by Ryan, player I really like

Very honest analysis of that half by the RTE team.

God I love Rhys Patchell. Patchell for Wales.

Healy though he can be extremely effective is prone to bobbing and weaving in front of the defence rather than using his power to try get over the gainline, Kilcoyne reminds me of SOB in how he always injects pace when he receives the ball.

    He can't at this stage

Why not? Is there a time limit,

10 mins on a blood sub, isn't it?

Yeah, it's 15 minutes I think. To stop teams abusing the system.

What a season for a 19 year old, very composed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Oh yeah, a bonus point looks very unlikely. You'd think that we'll still win...we have a much better bench.

Hope Mick Sherry is okay though...though Henry's done well enough imo. Made 2 really good tackles in particular.

Well he's born in Wales and played there all his life. Don't think he has any Irish blood at all.

Ok, thought someone on Sky mentioned something about Ireland and red hair:p

    great try by the way!

Well worked try for Cardiff, pass back inside left Sean Henry for dead and then the winger skins Duncan Williams. :(

    I blame the stadium

Patchell best player on pitch by far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,855 ✭✭✭pappyodaniel

    That Patchell lad is d'business.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,791 ✭✭✭CptMackey

Some really stupid play. We were I'm total control of that scrum and we blow it. So frustrating

Patchell is great. Wonder how much money he's going to make in France?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Silly not to use the ball in that position, a try was on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,708 ✭✭✭ScissorPaperRock

    Time for some subs

O'Gara kicking very well, sadly Munster can't profit from it.

We are badly missing DOC, POM and Zebo.

    O'Gara for Ireland

That pass from howlet sums up the night really

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

You can't just shunt the ball from wing to wing...someone has to draw a defender before releasing the pass. Or use the pack to suck in a few defenders before going wide. Or running different lines, have people on the shoulder of the ball-carrier. Something different.
