help with video length vs sd cards size

    what size sd card will i need to record an hours of 720P from my cannon 550D :confused:

    The 550D records 720p at 60fps, which make it near enough to the same bit rate as the 1080p at 30fps.

    So, unless you're using Magic Lantern to under crank the fps to 30, then a 16GB card should probably get around 50 minutes or so at either resolution.

    TL;DR: If you need the full hour, you'll need a 32GB card.

    P.S. Don't know how experienced you are, but just in case you don't know... the camera will automatically stop recording once the file hits 4GB. You'll have to either restart recording manually, or turn auto restart on in Magic Lantern if you have it (this will miss about a second of recording).

    Only if you have Magic Lantern installed on it. You should look into getting it if you are at all tech savvy, its really fantastic.
