Monitor changing colours

Hi i was just wondering if anybody has any suggestions as to why my partners pc monitor keeps going block colours when playing a game, so far its gone blue once, grey once and most commonly green. The monitor is around 3yrs old and we've checked all the cables are connected. Really hoping it's not a new monitor needed this…
