    That laptop would be fine.

I have a very similar laptop and it runs eclipse, blueJ etc with no issues.

Processor is fine but if you plan to run many other programs (app servers etc) as well as Eclipse make sure the RAM is expandable.

I think I'll probably upgrade it straight away. May aswell have the 8Gb available just to be safe.

What's the best place for getting affordable Ram? Haven't looked into it too much. Only one I know of is crucial.com

That's a really expensive laptop for the specs. Here are a couple that are cheaper. One of these has 6GB of RAM.

I'm not getting it in Currys anymore, actually found the same laptop but with much better specs, for the very same price as the Currys one.

Will be much happier with this one needless to say.

Saw the ones you posted too but they don't have usb 3.0 ports, and only 2 2.0 ports. I have a 3.0 portable hard disk so I wanna take advantage of the extra speed from that

Honestly better off with a desktop with a nice big screen for programming or duel monitors. Doing it on a laptop will drive ya cracked, well it did for me.!
