Learning to Read & Write French

I am currently learning French from scratch with Pimsleur, now it's a fantastic method I am learning to say and understand so much. However it doesn't teach reading and writing, I am in no hurry to learn these things but can anyone recommend a good course which primarily teaches reading and writing so I can work through it to complement the Pimsleur course.

John, the two texts I've found most useful over the years have been "Hugo's French in 3 Months" and "The Ultimate French Review and Practice" by Stillman and Gordon.

I have always been a fan of these CLE French books. I don't know your level but they have books on Vocabulary and Grammar (Though if you are teaching yourself, you would have to buy the corrigé or answer booklet). They explain everything in French, so you learn brilliant vocabulary and get great Grammar practice. I'm a French teacher myself and use them regularly with students.
