Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bleaching dark hair

I'm thinking about getting my naturally dark brown haired bleached so I can dye it a fun, mad colour. I'm going travelling for a few months and I've never done anything like this before so I figure this is as good a time as any!

I know very little about hair and bleach, but is it possible to get very dark hair bleached? Can you do it at home and if not, how much should I be prepared to pay for it?

Thanks in advance for all replies!

I had blonde "streaks" put in my dark brown/almost black hair a few years ago in the hairdressers and it turned out ok.... having said that, the hairdresser took out the foils/plastic and spent a good ten minutes staring at it, saying "I seriously thought it would go ginger"

It depends on your hair. Some hair types dye well, and you get the desired colour straight away. I was only in the hairdressers for under 2 hours (including a cut and blow dry).

Other hair types (especially previously/heavily dyed hair) don't dye well, and will take several sessions/a few hours to reach the wanted colour.

Best to get it done professionally. Hairdressers know what they're doing and some will be able to warn you in advance if it'll take several sessions or not.
