    Well we were sh!t.

Thank Fowler for Suarez's handball. If Suarez hadn't have handballed it, we wouldn't have won so it's a relief that Suarez did indeed handball it and therefore getting the win for Liverpool by using his hand when he handballed it there.

    Thank you Luis. Thank you!

Well that was a convincing win, nobody can argue with that outcome. Clear cut and no controversy. Lock up the thread and lets all look forward to next week's game!

    :pac:

Fair play to Mansfield really played well in the 2nd half, think the occasion got to them in the 1st. But they handed the win to us in the end.

Good job that Suarez goal didn't decide the game.

Nice one, job done. No replay thank fcuk.

Won't complain if Suarez scores a handball winner next week :)

Well done Mansfield done yourselfs proud.

    Well done Liverpool for progressing.

Can I recommend all you regulars ignore the next few hours in here and don't rise to it.

Mansfield really deserved a replay for their performance today

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,438 ✭✭✭livinginkorea

Looking at it now, I guess it was too much of a risk to play both Coates and Carra with Lucas. Not enough strength and speed to deal with the attacks.

Well played Mansfield. Gave me a heart attack there for a while.

    Bring on Oldham

Mansfield deserved a draw, but I'll take the win. I'd love to see Suarez do the same next weekend in the 93rd minute for a late equaliser/winner. That would be delicious. It'll probably happen the other way round though and I'll be outraged. C'est la vie.

very hard luck to Mansfield in fairness...didn't deserve to go out like that.

With all the chances Liverpool missed just a pity a bad missed call from the ref cost Mansfield in the end :p

Didn't go through in a great manner but through nonetheless, hopefully we'll get another kind draw for the fourth round.

Intriguing game. Have to feel a little sorry for Mansfield. You wouldn't have thought there was 93 places between them in that 2nd half.

The Suarez goal should have been spotted by the lino. No excuses there at all, it was clear as day. You can bang on about cheating or whatever but the blame lies firmly with the lino on this one.

I think your forgetting Johnny Evans play acting too , none of our players should tackle him next week if he starts .

Funny how the ref/linesman not disallowing a goal has me feeling sympathy for Mansfield, but if the same thing happens next week I will be off my seat and shouting my head off along with the rest of the away support.

Still a win is a win I guess, and on to Old Trafford next for a far greater challenge.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

    Shocking if that is true.

It's not really in all fairness. It happens at all games if you go to them. If there is no one singing for the home team, you always get that. It's nothing to do with the Hillsborough honoring.

Aww come on fans sing that at every game of football, and it was the club who did the 96 seats at the away end not the Mansfield fans

    Yeah. Makes it even sweeter.

Does it ? i'd be pretty embarrassed if I was a Liverpool fan after seeing my team under the cosh to a non-league side for much of the game.

Its two different things. Fans are always gonna have a go at each other, the gesture from upstairs wasn't going to curtail the usual terrace chants.

To be honest i think its a boring chant myself, i've certainly heard it plenty of times from the away end at Anfield this season (and usually they're right, our support has been fcking shhit).

You only have to do enough, winning 2-1 gets you to the same stage as winning 5-1

    Who is your team btw?

Getting baited by Arsenal fans, whose full strength team were held to a draw, and were knocked out of the league cup by lower league opposition...oh how we have fallen.

Liverpool won. Why should they feel embarrassed?

In fairness its hard to raise your game for teams like this. They avoid replay and have easy(enough) next round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,365 ✭✭✭✭rossie1977

liverpool were awful, completely outplayed for the last 60mins of that game, the most worrying thing is that liverpool were the team to get tired and mansfield were still going all out with 94 mins gone

next week isn't going to be pretty for rodgers
