Who cares about the OS anyway? Since one is surfing the web with a browser and all the main contenders are available for pretty much any OS, what difference does it make?

Mac and Mac OS are synonymous

Tell that to people running Windows or Linux on their Mac.

The complaint is similar to someone pointing out if Windows is mentioned instead of Microsoft Windows.

Nope. Macintosh is a platform; Mac OS is an operating system. The equivalent of the 'Windows / Microsoft Windows' analogy you brought up here would be someone complaining about not calling it 'Apple Mac OS' instead of just 'Mac OS' (which nobody has).

I take the Linux option to mean desktop / laptop machines. I would imagine Mint / Ubuntu / Fedora lead the way followed by some of the less common distros (not trying to start a flame war :) )

It probably means that an average linux user is more interested/aware what system he/she is using as opposed to an average mac user and that's why we don't see to many of them in the computers&technology forum / poll.

I mean that the idea of measuring usage of a particular system in computers&technology forum is a little bit like asking people if they have a driving license during a motor show - the results will be more or less shifted towards high numbers.

Mac users tend to stick to the Mac forum I notice from experience, whereas in C&T you get the Linux & Windows users so the results appear to be skewed somewhat.:pac:
