Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Need some quick tests on an Apple/iOS related site

Hope the mods don't mind, but I need a few people to try visiting this site with their iPad/iPhone/iPod browser and post what the performance score is (and what device they're using + browser if not Safari).

The idea is to try to identify the specific type of device purely from in-browser tests. I can get so far with checking the screen res. etc. but really need some performance score figures to attempt to distinguish the different CPU types.

    Thanks a lot

    Thanks a lot for those.

I just realised that the numbers are quite a bit different in Chrome and Dolphin compared to Safari, so that kind of complicates things. If anyone would like to try this it would be great if you can also post whether you're using Safari or not.

    Cool, thanks!

Do you know if it's the 4 or 4S model?

The 4S has a black line break above the volume buttons on the side -

That sounds about right, for these tests at least (Javascript calculations) it seems that Safari is about 3x faster which is a surprisingly big difference.

It's because Safari is using a proprietary Javascript engine that the other browsers don't (yet) have access to.

It's an intentional speed limit imposed by Apple as far as I know.

It is a bit of a difference i say...

Haha, yeah I'll add a Facebook button, thanks for the feedback :)

Thanks to all who have replied so far, I almost have enough info but a few more iPhone 3/3GS/4/4S and iPad 1/2/3/mini scores would be useful.

Thanks, I don't think I'll attempt to detect different OS X versions but have added a basic check for it.

Thanks again everyone for trying this, it was really helpful.

I've finished comparing the results, happy to say that it can now distinguish between all full-size iPads and iPhones from 3GS onwards.
