Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Villa should win but worst case scenario I'd take a draw.
There should be goals for Villa but the defense is porous.

Amazing to think this Villa team will probably be in a cup final at Wembley.

Not really. Teams of the same level make the final all the time. Those Cardiff and Birmingham teams that made it recently, definitely weren't as good as the current Villa team.

Despite the troubles the Aston Villa team is going through, they really shouldn't have much difficulty getting the win.

Villa can be so amateurish and full of mistakes at times.

    Debatable.

Birmingham squad that day, and Scott Dann couldn't play due to injury.

Foster; Carr, Jiranek, Johnson, Ridgewell; Larsson, Ferguson, Gardner, Bowyer, Fahey; Zigic. Subs: Taylor, Murphy, Phillips, Jerome, Martins, Parnaby, Beausejour.

Amazing to think Arsenal couldn't get past this lot. Villa should be two up already.

No cohesion for Villa, same all season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,407 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

In theory, Villa just need to settle down and do their stuff and they'll take control of this game. That was the theory in the Quarter Final however...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Hopeess marking for the goal, for the countless time this season.

The extra 90 minutes away from Bradford's home ground should make the difference.

I'm not taking Bradford lightly. If Villa don't perform like a Premiership side, Bradford are well capable of continuing to punish. Heres hoping that Villa do show their Premiership class.

yeah fair enough, why you want villa to win though?

Villa's squad for their last Premier League game:

    d88729d1dbae65698467216c38a9af8f.png?1357675841

There's hardly much difference. Villa have the better striker, Birmingham had the better goalkeeper, defence and midfield for me out of those two squads.

Like I said, it's debatable, a matter of opinion, but I certainly wouldn't say that Villa's is ''definitely'' better.

You'd still prefer to win tonight all the same. But yeah, Aston Villa still significant favourites at this stage.

I would. Some still underrated players in that squad and I think its no coincidence that Villa are 2 places away from the relegation zone within 3 points of the likes of Newcastle and Sunderland. Villa were also suffering from a bit of an injury crisis for that game, as you probably know.

Villa look really dangerous. Expect goals from them once they get their shooting boots on

Me too, but a second Bradford goal on the counter could really see heads drop.

Hanson should do better there. He's a very good header of the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,407 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Bradford have had the better of the last 10 minutes imo.

Could have been 2 for Bradford there

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Bradford more than holding their own here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,772 ✭✭✭✭Paul Tergat

Hanson ffs. Missing his headers. All down the right though with Nahki and hines

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,407 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

That's a gilt edged chance tbh. Villa might not be too displeased if it stays this way till half time given the way the game has flowed since the goal.

    Great game for the neutral.

Unfortunately there are too many villa players who seem "at home" at this level. Any premiership side should be dominating matches against teams two leagues below. Villa passing and control is pretty shocking.

Do villa look like scoring at all or what

Villa playing rubbish really, long balls going nowhere, misplaced easy passes, defence cut open and panicing, Gabby and Weimann not involved at all, Delph and Bannan ****.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Joe Bennett has been absolutely woeful.

Simply bizarre that Ireland is sitting on the bench when he is one of the few Villa players with the brain to unlock this game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Bennett showing his consistency, still playing ****. Have to get Zog on the ball more, looks dangerous when he has it. Just like the past 2 years, Bannan can **** right off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,752 ✭✭✭markesmith

What the hell's happened to Stephen Ireland? Surely he's good enough to be starting here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,357 ✭✭✭OneColdHand

Villa so poor. Bannan is awful. Ireland has to come on. Benteke not getting any chances cos he's not getting any supply.

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 23,231 Mod ✭✭✭✭GLaDOS

Enjoying the game as a neutral (up for Bradford though just a little :)). If Villa play like they can they should still won comfortably though.

Lambart will rip them to shreds at half time after that performance.

Echo others in saying that Stephen Ireland surely has to be better than what is out there.

I think he would struggle at a far lower level than the Premier League too, Hines has had the beating of him every time. He was definitely a panic buy from Lambert.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,752 ✭✭✭markesmith

Surely Ireland's fallen out with Lambert or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

He was excellent in the Championship. I thought he'd be a canny signing for Villa.

Ireland is just not performing when given chances.

However if Gabby or Weimann don't get involved then push Zog wide and bring Ireland on.
