    MT6592M is 1.4ghz octacore, MT6592 is 1.7ghz.

I would be inclined to go with the W200S (8mp camera as well) 32gb ROM, and better screen (for 20 dollars extra).

I know but I find anything over 5 inches too big.

    That's what she said.

Oh a side note, 5-6 inch would be the standard screen size for any octocores I have seen.

There seems to be a trend to phones over 5" screens at the moment. I would have to agree that anything over 5" is just too big for a phone.

I think the 6 inch is fine, not too big at all. (That is also what she said).

Takes a little getting used to, but don't think I would go down (in size!!) :D

Wouldnt be convinced to be honest.
Screen resolution isn't the best (Probably acceptable)
Dont think you'll see much overall difference in performance with a octacore phone with 1gig of ram versus an quad core with 2 gigs of Ram
    Camera is pretty poor

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,010 ✭✭✭Barr

5MP camera on an octocore phone – I thought it was a mistake when I read it first

Lenovo should be doing far better. They seem to be one step behind these days.

Ibood have the Acer Liquid E3 Duo dualsim on offer at the moment. No import taxes through them. Not bad value I guess.

    Dear friend.

    Sorry for the shipping delay.

Please be more patient, you will get it soon.

Hope you can cancel the dispute for us, we will appreciate for your friendly action.

Does this mean customs in Dublin have it and I have to wait for a letter from them demanding I pay X amount? New to this process.

Sounds confusing....but seems to be the case that when customs get it you'll know.

I think this means it has not passed customs in China, they check parcels before releasing them for delivery outside the country, once DHL get it you should be able to track it.

They could just be stalling also.

Having my doubts about the oul Chinese phones these days, long story short, got my missus a Jiayu G3ST there a while back, phone going grand other than the ****ty GPS, one morning we woke up to 10 emails from Play Store saying thank you for your purchase at 5am!

We were asleep and had not purchased anything!

Someone obviously got her gmail login details from one of the apps on the phone, my suspicions was the (MTKTool app) logged into play store on her account and bought 500 us dollars worth of gold coins for some Chinese game... :O

Luckily, the card she had on there was an old one and had since expired, so they put someone else's details there and made the purchase...

I would say if her card had not been expired then they would have used her card...

Got onto Google who were quick enough to sort it in fairness, after that we enabled 2 step verification on her account and it happened again 3 or 4 days later....

That was the last straw so I flashed a new ROM onto it and its been fine since, but just a word of warning for Chinese phone enthusiasts... :-)

She could have had a virus on the phone.

What's a good way to check?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,577 ✭✭✭✭Riesen_Meal

She could have had a virus on the phone.

No such thing as a "proper" virus on android phone, ive worked in phone repair for years and I've only ever seen a virus once, a Bluetooth one on an old Nokia been rooting and flashing androids since 1.6 and have yet to see one other than an app that did similar to it, there dodgy software installed definitely preinstalled....

Looking at this one http://www.etotalk.com/lenove-a850-white_p5515.html lenovo850, just some questions, can i stick my o2 sim in it without any unlocking?(is it already unlocked, or do i need to buy unlock and root) . I think i have to buy google play store, and then i should be able to get apps like skype etc. Why would i need etotalk mod rom? and when my rom is full ,from updates etc will the sd card be sufficent for storage, aslo can i move apps from internal memory to sd card? thanks. cost plus 27$ to post.

Most Chinese phones come from the manufactuer with roms that have a lot of Chinese Apps & text characters, the etotalk rom removes the majority of these and replaces them with English (other languages available to select) Apps & text characters. The etotalk rom also roots the phone although this is easy to do with Android. Google play is a free app and came installed on mine.

The phone will come unlocked for any network (you may require a different sim from your network depending on what type you have, this is normally free).

You can buy a micro sd card from etotalk or you can get one from a local supplier, if you have to pay customs charges the value of the card and any other accesories you purchase from etotalk will be part of their cost calculations.

You can use a free app called link2sd to move apps to a micro sd card, info on that here: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/guide-on-increasing-application-storage-with-link2sd/. there are also many other similar apps

I have bought twice from etotalk without problem, I would recommend paying the extra for threir rom unless you are happy to install a rom yourself, you do not need any of the other options listed except a case & you may get a better one elsewhere.
