The Xiaomi range of phones seems very good.

Especially the Xiaomi Mi3 well bar the lack of SD card slot.

Anyone have any experience with these devices? Recommended?

I have the Mi3. Really excellent device. When it was released, it was the most powerful smartphone in the world. Still has very good specs, and the price has dropped a good bit lately.

If I was going to get a flagship smartphone from China I would choose either Xiaomi Mi3 or Meizu MX3.

Next month Meizu, and possibly Xiaomi, will release their new flagship phones, but it might take a month or two on top of that for them to become readily available.

    I ordered from Pandawill.com http://www.pandawill.com/xiaomi-hongmi-note-mtk6592-2gb-8gb-55-inch-hd-ips-screen-130mp-3100mah-p89712.html

When you order, in the notes section on paypal, state to them that you want to avoid customs and they will put $50 as the value. Just tell them 'please state package value at 50$ and don't include invoice'

That is a serious piece of kit. Was looking to spend only around 200 but considering pushing the budget out a bit. Where did you end up getting it from?

Got it from a seller on aliexpress. Think I paid 320 for the international 64gb version. The price drop happened just after I bought it. Think you might get the 16gb version for a good bit cheaper. Went for the bigger storage because of the lack of sd card. Kit Kat is coming soon too. There is beta builds out at the moment.

Hi! So I was wondering what s people's experience with http://www.mixeshop.com/, they are selling the Xiaomi note for 195$ but I ave never dealt with them and saw very bad reviews online!
    Here is the link:
    http://www.mixeshop.com/xiaomi-hongmi-note-red-rice-note-wcdma-mtk6592-octa-core-55-inch-ips-hd-screen-miui-v5-2gb-8gb-3100mah-battery-otg-gps-3g-smartphone_p4329.html

The other thing I wanted to ask is, I was looking at the specs of the note closer and saw that 3G is WCDMA only, will this work in europe?

Damn, I keep changing my mind, I think I'll wait for this:

Any UMI users in the forum?

Used them the last time, they were brilliant, was delivered with 10 working days and they even gave me a free cover.

So I'm gonna take the plunge (finally) and the the Redmi Note is the one. Just looking for some advice as to the best place to purchase.

I'm leaning towards Merimobiles simply because of the Rooting service plus color options. In recent weeks Pandawill has been highly spoken of however I do not see these services..

My requirement is a de-bloated rooted phone with the Play store installed.

Anything ideas? my credit card is waiting :)

Very tempted myself, this is the cheapest I can see:

    http://www.pandawill.com/xiaomi-hongmi-note-mtk6592-2gb-8gb-55-inch-hd-ips-screen-130mp-3100mah-p89712.html

Dont worry about pre-rooted, if you have a USB cable its a piece of piss.

Yeah, that's the one alright........ and I'm not very up to date on rooting etc, so a piece of pee to you isn't the same :o

I ordered from there before and it was processing for about 6/7 days. Once it moved to shipped it arrived at the house in about 24 hours. That was with the DHL option.

Xiaomi phones usually come rooted out of the box.

Your phone should come with the international version of MiUI - Xiaomi's heavily customised version if Android - and will have Google apps installed.

If not, I posted a link to Xiaomi's forums a few pages back which explain how to install Google apps.

Like the rest of the sellers, they tend to take 'a few days'.

    See points 3 and 4.

The Chinese have the Dragon Boat Festival from 31st May to 2nd June so there will be a delay getting orders out.

Most companies close for it then have a backlog to deal with.

question folks, I ordered a few things from Mixeshop on the 17th May via Singapore Post.
Checked Singapore Post website and it said Dispatched to Ireland on the 22nd.
I can't find a tracking noumber to check An Post, any ideas where would I find one?

  • Registered Users Posts: 930 ✭✭✭jousting with chairs

It's the same tracking number that you got from SP but it won't show up on the An Post system until it says ''arrived in Ireland'' on the SP site.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,803 ✭✭✭✭Panthro

thank you kindly, I'll give it a few more days so.

  • Registered Users Posts: 930 ✭✭✭jousting with chairs

No bother, but I've had packages take up to 2 weeks from dispatched date so don't hold your breath :)
