Very hard to follow who had ordered what here but all these people waiting on phones, are any of them the Elephone P3000s? Thinking of ordering one off Gearbest myself but thought I saw something here about them being out of stock.

Not Elephone P3000. We ordered the Zopo ZP999 with a killer of a discount.

I managed to use my other chinese phone for less than a month before I succumbed.:)

So whats the best phone in the €200 - 250 range?

Would need to have a 1080p display and a good camera/video.

You really are weak:).

The Mi 3 is a very good phone although it would have been hard to say no to the zopo deal.

You really a should go with the xiaomi mi3 you linked to as it's mine. :)
A super phone with the new miui rom on it.
I just couldn't resist the deal on the zopo... I'm weak

Actually had that phone a while back and loved it but had the chance to sell at a profit and did. May take you up on that phone yet.....

Since you've no issue with profit it's now 400 to you :)
Seriously though, I'd love to get it off my hands sooner rather than later.

I had it almost sold to another boards.ie but decided cash would be ok instead of paypal and something more urgent came up for him in the few days I decided to wait. No good turn etc etc :):)

Out of interest, how much did the Zopo ZP999 cost you guys?

Was looking at it a few weeks ago, serious bit of kit, but well out of my budget at its current price.

Was it a pricing error? if i seen it at that price i'd have been all over it.

Euro dollar rate is sinking badly. A phone that cost $300 6 months ago would have been 220 euro, last month 240, today 254. Lowest its been in 8 years.

Why not get the P6000? Better specs all round for €130

Is the P3000 Octacore and the P6000 Quadcore or is the 6732 a better chip than the 6592 ?

Gyroscope and Fingerprint Scanner (and better camera :) ) on the P3000

I'm hella confused by the numbering. The P5000 looks like it tops the lot.

The different chips has me confused, but this might clarify it (or not!!)

I am seriously tempted by this http://www.pandawill.com/elephone-g6-smartphone-mtk6592-1gb-8gb-50-inch-hd-screen-smart-wake-white-p93909.html"]Elephone G6 but i'm a small bit put off by the lack of app available storage. Is this a common issue with these Chinese android phones?

It's common but many are moving to single parition storage. Lenovo, Meizu, Xiaomi and Huawei do this on all their phones now, as well as some lesser known brands.

This phone has 32gb single partition storage, looks like a pretty good deal but its 5.5" and is on Android 4.2 for some strange reason. http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Original-100plus-V6-Smartphone-WCDMA-5-5-1920x1080-Screen-MTK6592-Octa-Core-2GB-RAM-32GB-ROM/311331_32237777195.html

I need to have KitKat unfortunately, and 5.5" is too big for me. I think i'm going to bite at the G6, i assume i can use an sd card as primary storage if needed?

Wouldn't be so sure about that, not without some modification anyway. I remember many people complaining about this with the Xiaomi mi2s that they were limited to 2gb for apps and I couldn't find a way around it, put me off buying it. Also seen others complaining about being unable to move apps to sd card on lots of phones.

There's been a price drop on the 1gb version of the Zenfone 5 recently. I have the 2gb version and it's rom supports app to sd natively and has single partition storage on its 8gb. When I got mine it was converted to international firmware so easily updated to kitkat directly from their site. I know since then that they made it more difficult to do this, so if you get one with 4.3 it might be a bit more trouble to update, but not impossible.

I'm basing my idea on it working based off a mate of mine who has a G5, and all primary apps run from the sd card. Also in a review video i see an option in the settings to do this, and the reviewer states that the games are running from the external storage, which i assume to be the sd card.

I'm going to pick one up anyway, can get it from:

Gearbest for €124.43
Pandawill for €127.48
Tinydeal for €120.58
Etotalk for 120.74 incl 16gb sd card

I have no experience with these sellers except for gearbest, and the last thing i ordered got hit for customs.

I'm told pandawill have a despatch from Spain so perhaps they are the best option?

It likely supports the app to sd then but it's down to the app whether or not it can make use of it. Some can't be moved at all and others only partially.

I'd get it aliexpress personally as its cheaper. http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/First-Issue-2014-New-5-0-inch-Elephone-G6-MTK6592-Octa-Core-1-7GHz-Android-Phone/103919_2041720096.html

Are they reliable? Would you be inclined to spend the extra few € and get it courier shipped?

They're as reliable as any chinese reseller can get. Aliexpress is similar to ebay, loads of different seller so you got to be careful which one you pick. That one I linked is the biggest smartphone seller there. If you don't mind waiting a bit longer I'd go with normal post as courier has much higher chance of getting hit with customs. Their DHL is only $10 extra though.

Funny i would have though it would be easier to get hit by post?

I have choices to make so, including the colour!!

I've only ever bought phones from aliexpress with normal post. Let's just say it went well for me every time :) The general consensus is DHL/Fedex etc will charge vat and handling fee on every parcel, but some do get through without it. The odds are much better with normal post though.

I will go with normal post, takes forever though judging by the delivery times

2 weeks from time of order if you're lucky, 3 max if seller takes his time dispatching it. Singapore post is pretty fast compared to some others. When people talk about stuff from china taking 2 months+ its usually with China post.
