On February 16th, to mark the celebration of Factory’s 1st birthday, we are bringing arguably the hottest name in the scene at the minute to Galway…

    Levon Vincent

Support on the night comes from Epoch resident Enda House.

Admission: €12/ €10 with concession from the Pre Party in the Bierhaus

Levon has enjoyed huge success over the last few years with releases on his Novel Sound label as well Deconstruct, which he runs along with Anthony Parasole who graced our turntables back in December. Tracks such as ‘Woman Is The Devil,’ ‘Man or Mistress.’ and ‘Late Night Jam’ have become anthems in night clubs the world over and any new release that hits the record stores never stays too long on the shelves.
Levon, who now resides in Berlin, gained his knowledge of records in New York where, as a club goer he experienced parties in the likes of Sugar Reef and Pat Field’s Boutique where he began DJing. In 2001 he began working in Halcyon record store in New York where he met his Deconstruct label partner Anthony Parasole. The label’s first release was Levon’s Invisible Bitchslap EP, which was a deep industrial affair, a style which he is now renowned for. His releases always seem to have a distinct toughness to them with subtle touches of brilliance that transform the track on its head (see releases such as ‘Solemn Days’ and ‘Woman Is the Devil.’)

Last year Levon was asked to do a Fabric mix and it turned out to be an education on what the New York house scene has to offer at the minute including unreleased tracks from himself along with tracks from DJ Qu, Anthony Parasole and up and coming Joey Anderson.
Levon’s DJ sets infuse both house and techno and has played everywhere from Berghain in Berlin to Rex Club in Paris to Fabric in London.
As he said himself in an interview with Bodytonic in Dublin,
“I am a scientist working in the field of ass-shakery.”

    Music from 11pm in Factory.
*Concessions are available at the pre party in the Bierhaus*

Levon Vincent podcast released a few weeks back for LWE. Good listening for anyone who hasn't already checked it.

Where's Factory/Epoch? Haven't been home in Galway for a couple of years. According to the map it's where Central Park (CP's) is.

Is CP's changed in to a proper club?

Yeah, CP's closed last year and "Electric Garden & Theatre" opened in it's place after a venue transformation. You really wouldn't recognise the place as having been CP's.

The new venue is comprised of "Electric," which is the main room (I couldn't tell you much about the music in here as I've never really been in for more than a minute), "The Garden," which is the upstairs enclosed smoking area (cool spot with DJs playing Hip Hop, Funk, Disco etc. whenever I've been there) and "Factory," a 200 capacity room that hosts more underground nights ran by various promoters. Depending on the promoter there might be House, Techno, Hip Hop, Electronic stuff, or anything really.

Epoch are the promoters who have booked this particular event.

Hope that's not too much crap to take in and that I've answered your question.

    Cool, thanks got it.

So have many decent names played in Factory? Galway has always been crying out for a decent Electro/deep house/techno venue.

Just off the top of my head in the last few months; Ron Morelli (L.I.E.S.), Objekt, DMX Krew, Anthony Parasole, Marco Bernardi, John Daly, Space Dimension Controller, Aeroplane. I'm definitely leaving out some names there, and haven't even touched on the growing list of great Irish acts that have played.

Must say as a promoter that Factory has been a huge boost to the scene in Galway.

So we're on this Saturday. Just a reminder that it's €12 in, or €10 with a concession from the Bierhaus. We expect this to be a busy one so arrive early and get the buzz going!
