I've been playing Shelter on and off all day.

Even their mobile games are the dog's bollocks. I'm hooked.

Same here. Has been crashing all day today for some reason though.

I've seen online that people who bought lunchboxes to speed up development have ended up with characters from previous games. Lucas Simms, Moira Brown, Three Dog.

Yeah, you can get lunchboxes playing the game. I got Mr Burke from one.

Preordered the pipboy edition on game UK there no mention of a t shirt though?

It was definitely offered earlier when I ordered my CE - in the same grey box that offers the bobblehead as part of the Vault Club thingy.

They might have underestimated demand or something. I shouldn't imagine it'd be too difficult for them to order more.

Having said that, if F4 is as life-consuming as we hope (or fear), I expect the t-shirt won't fit me come spring time. :pac:

The £20 deposit was taken alright, but not the full whack.

The T-Shirt was only available to the first 10,000 people to pre-order the game.

Are y'all gonna cancel the game pre-order if Gamestop announce that they have it?

I doubt 10,000 have pre-ordered it from game already have they?

When it's the only place that has the Pip Boy edition in the UK? Probably.

I mean, I don't see why else they would get rid of the t-shirt on the store page if they weren't already sold out of it.

The apparently compulsory hubby is a big disappointment, but otherwise, looks very interesting.

I was very fond of FO3's washed out look and poignant Murickan monuments, and never warmed to NV, so we'll see.

Well, they're real as in they are what you pay.

It's grey market, though. Some people have had bad experiences with them.

I myself have never had a serious problem but I always know that there is a risk. One time a key I bought didn't activate for 24 hours as they had temporarily disabled 'gift' keys because of a huge influx of keys that night. Worked the next morning, though. If it hadn't, I was already preparing to call my bank and reverse the charges. If that happened, I'd get my money back and never buy from the site (or that specific seller as kinguin lists many). They probably would never accept my card again if I reversed charges but not that it would be too big a loss. There's other key resellers and that 'shield' stuff they use to try and make you fork out a little bit more money to 'protect' your key is a load of BS. EU consumer protection ensures I get a working product not their shield

So yeah long story short, the price listed is legit, the key its self is likely legit if you buy from the trusted sellers but is not guaranteed with say... the likes of buying directly from steam or gog.

It is interesting to see people seeing such prices for the first time and thinking they're some kind of joke, though. Arkham Knight is going for €22 on g2a right now and that game's not even out yet. Crazy.

edit: Even cheaper on kinguin now that I checked. 20 quid. You'd be lucky to get a second hand game with a store discount on console for that kind of money.

They explode and die in many ways regardless of V.A.T.S. use. V.A.T.S changes little in terms of physics.

I think you missing my point tbh

If it's coming from the US you will have to pay 23% VAT and an import charge when it's delivered.

I would have tried Amazon.de or fr.

I'd say it would look pretty goofy to be sat in front of a PS4 on the 50" widescreen, battling between a 'Pipboy' and a control. :pac:

    Not for me.

If anything, these gimmicks break immersion for me. I want it all in the game world and I want to focus on that fully.

But it's all about the gimmicks now. Don't you want to hear malarkey coming out of your controller's speakers during load screens? Or for the lights to flash red and blue when there's police around? Immersion, man. Get with the program.

Gimmicks are usually a load of ****e but for massive fallout fans this is unbelievable!

    I always wanted a pipboy :D

^ Same, but only one that actually works... as in relates to me and not my game character. Phone apps with games doesn't jive with me. This is totally stuff that would be neat to get as a gift for some collection and novelty... but I wouldn't spend a cent on it personally. I wouldn't even be able to wear it while playing the game as it would rub off my desk.

I'd really just prefer they spend time and money on making a proper in-game menu that's responsive, mapped correctly and changes for both gamepad and KB/M inputs appropriately. In the long term that's what's really going to matter.

Immersion is one thing but having a smoother gameplay experience can be valuable too.

Take, NV for example. There were a few occasions when I had my hotkey configuration all set up but was still actively chasing some of the GRA challenges. So there were times when I had to break the gameplay to go back into the pipboy to select the challenge weapon. This isn't something that is always desirable as it can disrupt the flow of combat.
Also in NV when you're playing in hardcore mode and you opt for a combat heavy focus (as I do) then you're going to be going back to the pipboy a lot. Having a second screen device to select aid items or specialist weapons can be quite useful for retaining a smooth flow in the narrative and the combat.

On a broader note, while the E3 presentation looks impressive and this is the most excited I've been about a new release for a long time, I have to say there are still some things I'm worried about.

The pre-war aspect looks impressive but it also looks as if its just a token chapter something like the growing up chapter of FO3. It seems to be just tagged on to set up the new interface and give a bit of fanservice. Not that I'm complaining but it just seems that there won't be any open world exploration of the pre-war environment.

The house crafting feature looks great and it seems to be pretty dynamic and procedural but that's what I was expecting from Hearthfire in Skyrim too and look what a kak-handed piece of DLC that turned out to be. There is a lot of variation as far as occasional furniture is concerned but all the big structural pieces seem to be built using premade sections rather than a more basic Minecraft style of construction. Also what the hell are steel beams and doors going to weigh. Its bad enough going out to explore and picking up massive amounts of coffee mugs, abraxo and tin cans, but now there's even more items and bigger ones too.

There are some things I'm hoping for though. For all the talk about expanding the modding system for basic weapons, it would be nice to see a wide variety of unique weapons return too although that wasn't mentioned. Also it would be really nice to have some kind of dedicated grenade button. Some of the grenades in FO3 and NV (Nuka-grenades particularly) are devastatingly offensive but having to switch weapons even using a hotkey to use them slows combat and makes it all a bit pointless.

    So... multi-monitor support?

Last game I saw that did it correctly was Supreme Commander. Oh my god... using my spare monitors as dedicated pib-boy menus (like the status screen!) would be incredible.

I doubt they'll ever implement something that cool, though. But I'll request it anyway. Bethesda... pls.

    That's a really good idea.

Before I'd have said that it was probably impossible due to what happens in-game when you press the pipboy but now that the concept of second screen has been introduced it would be a lot easier to pull the app code apart to work with mutiple monitors on the devices themselves. Certainly the architecture of next-gen consoles might be more supportive of this than previous generations.

Anyone know if there's an iOS emulator for PC? I seen that ipadian thing but doesn't seem to work really as well as installing a load of adware on your pc.

Something like bluestacks which is the android emulator for pc. Anyhing as good as that for ios?

(So I can play Fallout Shelter :) )

Thanks for that, unfortunately I'm a lowly console user atm.

However, now that I've gone next-gen there will be ports of Steam Workshop mods on XB1 so here's hoping.
