Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've had to stop reading about the ideological stalemates that american politics is crippled with, but it did get me thinking..

would more get done politically in the US if there where a 3rd party, something like our Labour Party or (god forbid) the Liberal Democrats across the way

Personally i think it make for a more moderate America.

There are plenty of other political parties in the USA; it's just a question of how they attract more voters and given the dominance of the major two, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Cannot see any 3rd party doing well in the US.
Too hard to get on the ballot for 3rd parties.

Would a 3rd party change anything?

Lobbyists on K street seem to more influence that the parties people belong to.

3rd party would be fantastic, but it will be a very long time before it happens......seeing as the majority of voters vote either dem or rep, it would take a miracle for more than a couple of 3rd party representatives to ever get a seat in congress.......as for getting enough to actually influence voting in congress.......a very very long shot.

For a country so keen on aggressively exporting their brand of democracy overseas they really do have a limited range of genuine electoral options.

Is there any hope of breaking the two-party monopoly?
