I just had a look at their FB page there, I was genuinely shocked to see them so casually putting up pics of pups and kittens for sale. Nice to see so many comments from people questioning their ethics in all of this but not surprising to see them defending themselves. I often wonder if this country will ever change...

Nice to see everyone is here for the puppies! Such an overwhelming response on their Facebook page, I really hope it brings attention to the matter!

Hopefully it might stop them in their tracks for a while. As DBB said though, it's not the first time they've done this so they might let the dust settle and do it again when they think the furore has died down.

Sad thing is as long unless the laws change and as long as someone is willing to keep buying from them they'll just keep selling them no matter how many people disagree.

Well I've just had a bit of a rant on their FB page at someone who came on defending them. Think I need to step away from the computer.....

All of this while Terrapins which can be found in every petshop suffer in silence dumped in Irish lakes and ponds take a back seat to some puppys in one petshop

    Ethics

If you want to discuss the disgrace that is abandoned terrapins then start a new thread about it, I personally would have some input for it. But this is a thread about puppies in a pet shop, so it's not that people don't feel this same, it just isn't the topic being discussed.

I agree that there should be legislation for ALL animals that are sold through pet shops. I don't think we should dismiss aquatic animals, rodents etc from the debate.

BUT.. the amount of time, energy, money, personal resources, personal emotions that rescues put into dogs, puppies, cats and kittens because of the greed of puppy farmers and back yard breeders, to have a pet shop come along and act in this manner is appalling.

The majority of pet shops, independents and chains throughout the country support their local rescues and encourage adoption of animals, in particular canine and feline species because this is where the problem is at crisis point. Not even going into the danger of taking an unsocialised puppy on a whim, without proper thought or consideration for the welfare or training of the dog, into a house where there may be children who will pull and play with the dog until one day it snaps and then the next day it ends up in the pound, or worse still in the vets to get PTS.

Dre this shop has got an awful lot of people very angry because of how it's behaving. While we all agree it may be 'legal' we all also agree that it's morally and ethically wrong. Please don't come onto the thread and detract from it, how about voicing your opinion on what this shop is doing right now with these puppies?

Yeh, looks like they deleted everything but you can still post on it. Am just hoping it might give them a chance to consider changing their attitude towards the animals they sell and consider other alternatives e.g. adoption through a rescue days like Maxi Zoo have.

I feel physically sick. What world do these people live in?

Collie puppies that "would look lovely in your house" - and kittens for €20. "Why not take one of each." :-O

No, I've been blocked:(. I was posting under my business page and got one of their supporters/staff quite agitated. All she could resort to was name calling and insults and the next thing the pics/vids were pulled and the comments removed.

Can all posters take note that this forum is not a tool for rallying the troops, boycotting businesses etc. Boards and it's users are subject to the same laws of defamation as everyone else.

    Thread closed.
