Thanks. Is Kieran McCarthy from Kinsale?

Was it the par 70 course in play? The 16th & 17th still out of play?

We didn't play the 16th and 17th in the morning so it was a par 70.
They were in play for the afternoon, so par 71. The fairways on them were very wet.
I must say though, the greens were in superb condition for this time of year.

Moate have their Intermediate & Junior Scratch Cups 25th / 26th May - €15 for visitors.

Some clubs also have a Minor Cup for high handicappers and I was wondering if any of you had any opinions as to whether it's worthwhile adding this in or not. They seem to be very few and far between in my experience.

How far in advance do you think these need to be open for online bookings?

Most of the time our comps are only opened about 7-10 days beforehand but I've opened all of April's up for booking as of yesterday.

We've decided to have a Minor Cup as well so now it's Junior 4-9, Intermediate 10-18 and Minor 19-28.

First counting competition i ever played in was a minor cup in moate, definately think there should be more of them.
I know its tough for higher handicappers having to finish out every single hole but it beats playing stableford week in / week out.

Not eligible for senior scratch yet but why are they playing it as a 4 ball not to mind a 4 ball better ball if I'm reading the above correctly. Scratch Cups in my opinion should always be singles strokeplay with no more than 3 in each group.

Not a fan of shotgun starts either but somewhat understandable if 36 hole events.

Sorry forgot to mention it is 36 holes.

they used to play it as a singles event but struggeld to get numbers to enter.
It is the only event of its type that I know of.
Personally think it might be a interesting format. It is also allowing 5 handicaps and lower enter so might get a few more entries.

Thats not a Scratch cup, it's just stroke 4 ball betterball, limited to max 5 handicap.
Bizarre that ye think that will somehow increase numbers.

I think fota are doing something similar for both senior & junior h/cappers

Good idea I think, it's not really like other 4 ball better ball comps as h-caps are not coming into the scoring and its played off scratch.
Think it will be a very popular format

Headfort are hosting a SENIOR SCRATCH CUP this year on Sunday 21st April.
It is a 36 hole competition playing 18 on both courses,

Not sure if they are still taking entries as it wasn't full at closing date?

I figured I was borderline off 3.5 to qualify for this but should be ok if they're still short a full field!

Surprised at that though, it was reasonably well advertised I thought and the Junior Scratch Cup was always well attended from my experience. 2 great courses, especially the New, looking forward to Sunday!

Just checked with the Golf Club:

"The draw has not taken place yet. We are still accepting entries for handicaps under 3".

If anyone is interested, please ring the Office in the GC. Thanks.

Hmm, will have to hope for the best so. I did make a point of saying I was 3.5 and not 4 when I rang up, maybe that'll save me :p

Tralee GC Intermediate scratch cup is on Saturday 15th June for €35. Serious value considering green fees are usually €170 during the summer. Just rang them there and they said the timesheet will open on the 3rd of June at 6pm.

Bray Golf Club Junior 4-10 and Intermediate 11-18 takes place on Saturday 8th June, timesheet for visitors goes live on Monday 27th May
