I'm in work up the road. Looks bad. Car involved.
Several ambulances and fire brigade. Couple of people down. I'd imagine luas won't be running through starting to corydon both ends of the stop.

There was just one the other day, that's crazy. Hopefully nobodies seriously hurt.

edit: nothing to do with a Luas, my mistake

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Another one  There was only one the other day http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056850631

Hopefully it wasn't to serious and no one was injured.

    Keep us updated!

Nothing to do with a Luas, a car mounted the footpath and killed two people near the marks and spencers loading bay, opposite the oriental emporium.

Looks like the luas wasn't hit. Car mounted the footpath at the old today fm building.

Incorrect assumption on my part, need to learn to read.

Horrible to hear 2 people dead :(

    http://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/woman-in-serious-condition-after-dublin-accident-580812.html

No deaths reported as of 13:10h

Report says Mary St (Jervis St junction?) rather than Abbey St.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,603 ✭✭✭coffeepls

It was a joyrider, hit a couple of people (not killed) and a pole (possibly will never be the same again). People are gone to hosp and the cops are in hot pursuit of the joyrider.

It's Jervis St. Luas stop, the "joyrider", unconfirmed, was taken straight away.

It is abbey st, (what part - middle abbey st?) - there's only access to luas and loading bay vehicles. Just before the Jervis stop.

There are two separate accidents here, one of which affects the Luas, no?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,119 ✭✭✭Ben D Bus

Pictures on broadsheet showing the accident at the Abbey St. entrance to the underground delivery area of Jervis centre, right beside the delivery bays to M&S

    Nothing graphic in the pictures.

Apologies, was just passing on info from someone in the area. They probably saw two or three people on stretchers and assumed the worst

    1 person confirmed dead.

Christ, was the joyrider caught? Someone said he was taken immediately?

A female pedestrian has died following a collision with a car near the Jervis Luas stop in Dublin city centre

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,119 ✭✭✭Ben D Bus

RTE is slow in updating but News front page says the woman has died whereas the story is still reporting her as critically ill

Female pedestrian has died. So tragic. If it was a joyrider, I hope they string him up.

That is awful, very tragic. RIP

  • Registered Users Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Goat the dote

How awful. Driver must either not know how to drive or be under the influence (or both?) to mount a kerb and cause the death of a woman. RIP

Could've been a blackout, illness or anything 'un-suspicious' for want of a better term...

56A, 27/77A and 69s will be busy for a while tonight

Seems strange that they said they arrested the driver if it was an accident. Or maybe they do that for any accident that involves a death.

    Bless her anyway.

In the midst of life.... :(

That stretch of road is closed to traffic except for access. Perhaps the car & driver should not have been there at all? I don't know. Nor do I know if that makes any difference to how the Gardai would handle this situation.
