Self Drive Horse-box hire?

    Does anywhere in Leinster hire out self drive horse boxes?

    Stuck in a rut at the moment - Jeep wouldn't be capable of pulling a horse box & Ive no trailer licence..

    Really think am going to start saving for a cheap self drive one as its so annoying not having my own transport:( But cant afford to buy at the moment looking to hire on the odd occasion.

    If you don't have a trailer licence, are you talking about a small truck/van? If so, you'd need to check your licence will cover you. One option you could look at is Equiport, think the woman's name is Sinead. She brings her jeep/trailer and transports you. Perhaps if you've a friend interested in going to the odd event, you could split the costs.

    If you have a standard full Irish licence, it'll be a B licence which covers:

    "Vehicles with seats for a maximum of 8 passengers and a maximum weight of 3,500kg (can tow a trailer where the maximum weight of the trailer when fully loaded is 750kg or less)"

    So if you are looking at boxes you'd need to check that when loaded with your horse that it's under 3500Kg.
