So the Bishops all go off to Spain at a days notice. What about Paddys job in the Centre, Vivs job with the Doc , not forgetting Zumo and Decco's ..ahem.."business interests" and as mentioned Charlotte's case in court.

Regarding a "Bishops do Spain" , the thought of seeing Zumo, Decco, Paddy, Viv running around in beachwear might be a bit hard on the eye.

Doug has second thoughts about the bribe
    Airs Tuesday, Jul 30 2013 at 20:00

It's the day before the court case. Paul asks Doug to call at the garage to collect part payment of the bribe, ensuring that Doug is on side for his court appearance. However, Doug surprises Paul when he calls into him and refuses to take the bribe. Doug announces that he is not going to lie on the stand. Paul is unnerved and talks Doug into taking the money, stating that no-one would believe him if he said it was a bribe. He points out that changing his story would only show him in a more negative light than he is already in. Defeated, Doug takes the money, much to Paul's relief.

Later, Doug breaks down when Pete and Dolores take him out to try to take his mind off things. The reality that he could be spending the following night in jail is starting to sink in, and he is inconsolable.

Meanwhile, Niamh tries to get Callum to open up to her and inquires about his upbringing. However, Callum jumps to the defensive, pushing Niamh further away.

Elsewhere, a scheming Tommy tells Judith that his physic's mother has passed away, meaning that his latest session has been cancelled. In reality, Tommy has cancelled the session himself. Judith admits to Tommy that Luke thinks he's prolonging his recovery so she will have to look after him. Tommy is indignant and wins Judith around with a sob story.

Also today, Leo is shocked to find out who's behind stealing his customers, while Cass decides to prove that he's still got what it takes.

Doug's day in court takes a surprise twist
    Airs Wednesday, Jul 31 2013 at 20:00
Callum interrupts the judge and announces he did it.

As the case gets under way, Doug struggles when asked to enter a plea. Stumbling, he eventually says guilty. When the judge describes Doug's actions as cowardly, Callum is struck by the words - the same words that Niamh has used to describe his lies previously. Suddenly, Callum stands up and announces that he was driving the car and that Doug was innocent, much to everyone's surprise and to Paul's horror. Paul acts as surprised as Pete with this revelation. Pete is livid about all the lies and wants to find out why his son was taking the fall for Callum.

Garda Maguire warns Doug that he may be still charged with wasting Garda time and lying in court. Rachel breaks down as Garda Maguire says that he will also be sending a file to a juvenile officer for her part in perverting the course of justice. Soon afterwards, Callum is arrested, charged and released on bail. He has not mentioned the bribe, but his family are all deeply worried as they're not sure whether Doug will reveal this information in his statement.

Meanwhile, Neasa asks Judith to look after Tommy that evening as she is working. Judith is free to do so as Luke is heading to London on an overnight business trip. Later, as Tommy prepares to cosy up with Judith with a bottle of wine, Judith leaves her phone on the table as she runs upstairs. Tommy answers her phone and revels in the delight of telling Luke that Judith is staying the night with him. Tommy declares war on Luke, refusing to call Judith. He sarcastically tells Luke that he will be pleased to pass on the message that he called.

Elsewhere, Cass pulls out all the stops at his interview in the Station.

Pete discovers the truth about the bribe
    Airs Thursday, Aug 1 2013 at 20:00

The Brennan house is in turmoil after the court case. Paul turns on Niamh for helping to create this mess, but Niamh defends herself, insisting that she had no idea that calling Callum cowardly would have such a cataclysmic effect on her family. Soon afterwards, there's good news for Doug when Deegan informs him that no further action will be taken against him.

Later, Paul refuses to stick to his part of the deal when Doug says that he doesn't want any more money - just the mechanic job. Pete is suspicious when he sees Paul and Doug fighting and soon demands the full truth from a worried Doug. Doug finally admits to the deal he made with Paul and tells his dad everything. Not long afterwards, Paul is shaken when Pete arrives on the Brennans' doorstep and tackles him about the bribe. In his anger, Pete threatens to ruin Paul's family, but Paul pleads with him to see that he only did what all fathers would try to do - protect his son.

Meanwhile, Judith is worried when Tommy informs her that Luke called last night. He feigns forgetfulness when Judith wonders why he didn't pass the message on. Later, Luke realises that he must up his game in order to get the better of Tommy. Luke offers to cook for Tommy as a peace offering for Judith in an attempt to apologise for his stupidity and stubbornness. Judith is pleased with his efforts, much to Tommy's dismay. Later, Luke's suspicions are proven when he goes head-to-head with Tommy over Judith. Tommy takes to his feet, warning that it won't be long before he wins Judith back in all departments - implying that he'll be back in the bedroom with her in no time.

Elsewhere, Leo suffers chest pains and heart palpitations after overworking himself, while Cass finds Caoimhe a hard taskmaster.

    Luke is provoked into violence
    Airs Tuesday, Aug 6 2013 at 20:00
    Luke attacks Tommy.

When Luke and Judith arrive at the house to observe the physiotherapist at work, Tommy is a little unnerved. Luke takes an opportunity to get the physiotherapist on her own and questions her about Tommy's seemingly slow recovery. He finds out that it was in fact Tommy who cancelled the appointment, and not a family death as Tommy had let on. Luke is secretly delighted that he has one up on Tommy now. Later, Tommy is literally backed into a corner when his lie comes out about the physio's mother being alive and well. Luke throws Tommy a scathing look when he manages to wrangle his way out of why he lied, playing the sympathy card and Judith like a fiddle.

Later, Tommy continues antagonising Luke about his supposed love-making antics with Judith, angering Luke who grabs him aggressively. Judith arrives at the door and to her horror sees Luke grabbing Tommy. She jumps to Tommy's defence and orders Luke out. As Luke tries to explain Tommy's conniving behaviour, she is having none of it and falls for the innocent man story that Tommy is pleased to spin her.

Meanwhile, Pete arrives over to the Brennans' and takes a worried Niamh and Paul by surprise - he agrees to say nothing about the bribe for the sake of his family. Soon afterwards, Doug decides against spending the bribe money on going on holiday to Ibiza and hands the money back to Paul. Paul is struck by Doug's integrity when he returns the cash to him. Doug is going to go to Belfast instead. When Pete finds this out, he is pleasantly surprised. Dolores arrives as Doug is about to leave with a message from Paul about a mechanic job in Athlone for Doug - he starts tomorrow. Pete is emotional as he waves Doug off to a new future and a job.

Elsewhere, Leo's pride causes him to lash out at Shannon.

Also today, Caoimhe makes up a mock argument with Cass in front of Esther in order to give him an out from his new job.

    Neasa goes on the attack
    Airs Wednesday, Aug 7 2013 at 20:00
Neasa tells Luke what she thinks of him.

Judith's anger grows with Luke, insisting that he has it wrong about Tommy's fraudulent incapacity. Neasa grills Judith about her dad, so Judith tells her about Luke attacking Tommy. Neasa storms off looking for revenge, only adding to Judith's stress. Luke is left angered when Neasa goes for him on the street, screaming insults and calling him a coward. Neasa challenges her mother, wondering why she is still with Luke, calling him a bully and a low life.

Soon afterwards, Tommy is victorious when Neasa - determined to spite Luke - insists that she and Judith stay with him. Judith reveals that she was forced to tell Neasa about Luke's attack. Caoimhe and Neasa vie for revenge on Luke as they discuss his abuse.

Meanwhile, Paul insists on Callum cleaning up his image for the case and advises him to volunteer at the Helping Hand. Callum is dead set against working there and storms off. Paul is annoyed further when Callum goes missing from work. However, Paul later catches up with Callum, who has signed up for a voluntary role at the local homeless shelter. Paul is relieved.

Elsewhere, Yvonne takes one look at her internet date and panics as he is nothing like his description and not up to her standards, Esther is hell bent on organising an alternative night of culture for herself, Cass, Bela and Charlie, while Bob and Carol are a little dubious when Leo accepts their offer of a driving job.

    Luke exposes Tommy's deception
    Airs Thursday, Aug 8 2013 at 20:00
Luke shocks everyone when he exposes Tommy's lie.

Luke interrupts a family dinner to Tommy's dismay. He tips a hot bowl of soup into Tommy's lap. Tommy leaps to his feet, exposing his lies to his family. Caoimhe is livid that Tommy has being playing the martyr, and Judith is annoyed for having been taken for a fool. Neasa is also utterly disappointed with her father, gutted that he would have played with her emotions in such a way. Judith and Luke reconcile their differences as Judith confides in him about her disappointment in Tommy's abuse of trust.

Later, Luke tells Yvonne that he's had enough of Neasa's backchat. Luke challenges Neasa about her attitude and finds fault in her work - he insists that he refuses to take her cheek as they continue to argue. Caoimhe suggests that she take Luke's offer up of a few days off, in order to cool down. Luke leaves Caoimhe happily in charge with a firm warning that she remembers who is boss. He warns that Neasa must change her attitude or risk losing her job.

Meanwhile, Rachel's anxiety grows about the upcoming school year, and she asks Callum to share with baby Rachel so that she can have space to study. When Callum refuses, Rachel is dead set on reclaiming her room, but she gains little sympathy from Niamh who seems to be unaware of her anxiety. Later, Paul laughs at Rachel's attempts to get ahead of her school work over the summer. As Niamh and Paul enjoy a burger in The Hungry Pig, they discuss Rachel's exam anxiety, putting it down to attention seeking.

Elsewhere, Charlie comes to Esther's aid, while Carol's Cab's seems to be doing well as Bob remains enthused about its future.

Caoimhe wore a t-shirt tonight with GEEK written on it. When she lifted her left arm, it read GEE. When she lifted her right arm it said EEK. I thought that was the best dialogue in FC for ages.

Rudeness aside, Caoimhe is brilliant. She's the only character who doesn't give a damn about anybody else in Carrigstown. It's refreshing.

The accident involving Doug and Callum happened, what, three weeks ago? I've never seen a court case for drunken or even dangerous driving, come up so quickly. Especially since there's been no mention ever of Doug receiving a court summons.
The crime rate in Dublin must be very low, if a driving offence can make it to court as speedily. In the rest of the country, it takes about a year.
