No goodbye from Zumo to Charlie and Esther was wrong

Barry O'Hanlon is proof of this. Terrible miscarriage of justice done to the poor guy, and now even his best friend Paul has forgotten about him. Poor oul Barry.

After he pushed Sarah, causing her head to hit the corner of the table, he could have called an ambulance but, instead, chose to ask Denzo to hide her body. It's possible that Paul is still visiting him but doesn't mention it.

That's not fair Enda. Everybody knows that the furniture and fixtures and fittings in Fair City are highly dangerous. Poor Turlough died when a mirror fell on his head and Sarah ended up meeting her maker from the combined lethal effects of a door and a table. Barry was a victim of circumstance. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He's doing time for manslaughter. Denzo sent a video confession of his own involvement to John Deegan and fled to Spain.

Did you even watch the video? I thought she came across well in it. Had some really nice things to say about working with the cast and crew. (Which is all very true: especially in a film environment over a period of time, you do get really close.)

Orla and Wayne face a backlash from the community. Maeve tells Wayne that she has decided move back to her parents' house as her mother needs her support. Wayne expresses his sorrow over the way things ended, as he never wanted her to find out the way she did. Maeve insists that he should have told her immediately and cuts him off, not wanting her apology. She admits they weren't a good match and she rushed into the wedding, but Wayne still betrayed her trust and broke her heart.

Later, Wayne waves goodbye to a sad Maeve as she leaves Carrigstown in a taxi.

Meanwhile, the Brennans' housewarming is in full swing when Callum's mother Jane turns up. Niamh invites her in as they exchange niceties. Paul and Niamh are relieved that a potential disaster seems to have been averted as Jane defuses the tension in the room with a joke. Callum is unsettled - he wanted to see his mother, but having her here in the middle of the Brennans' unnerves him. Paul begins to apologise for not being in her life or Callum's, but she stops him with a false smile and flirts, saying if she was Niamh she wouldn't let him out of her sights either.

Elsewhere, Caoimhe comforts a distraught Decco, while Ama decides to take a room in Sean's house.

Jane returns and tells Callum how she was kicked out of her apartment for not paying the rent. She also admits that she has spent all of Glen's savings. Callum goes to walk away, but Jane stops him and says someone is going to kill her if he doesn't help her out. Jane starts to give him her story about owing €3,000 to money lender Gary Scully, who is after her and how she's been forced to flee.

Later, Paul is shocked when Callum suggests that Jane should move in with them. Paul and Niamh tell Jane that she can stay for one night only. Jane does not liking being in his debt but offers him a weak thank you. However, Niamh can't resist having a go at her, pointing out that they don't believe her story but they're letting her stay anyway and the least she can do is act grateful.

Meanwhile, Judith is uptight as she has a potential buyer for the bar and wants Caoimhe to be on her best behaviour in order to give a good impression. Shortly afterwards, a handsome stranger arrives at The Station and casually announces that he is Dan Keating, the prospective buyer. Although things get off to a shaky start, Dan eventually agrees to buy the bar, much to their surprise. He agrees to call by the following day to sign everything over and make the sale official, much to Judith's relief.

Elsewhere, Wayne moves in with Orla.

Callum is furious when Jane tries to convince him that she needs cash. She suggests he should ask Paul for it. When Callum does so, Paul immediately knows Jane has put him up to it. Paul meets Jane and tells her to stay away from his family and he warns her that if she ever uses Callum to extort money from him again, he'll call the guards on her. However, Jane stands up for herself with Paul and Niamh, pointing out that she hasn't asked for a penny in 18 years.

Later, Callum gets a call from Jane and when he angrily answers it, she succeeds in manipulating him. Afterwards, he sneaks a clingy and upset Jane into Ridgeview with her case. Callum is torn between resentment and loyalty he settles Jane in for the night.

Meanwhile, Caoimhe finds out that she is going to lose her job as manager at The Station when Dan meets the staff and announces that he is going to take over managing the bar. He officially serves all the staff with one week's notice. Caoimhe attempts to rally the staff to her side, furious at the way Dan is handling the situation. She looks to Laura and Sean, who avoid her gaze as they're unprepared to walk out with her. Dan is embarrassed for Caoimhe, who is shocked by everyone's disloyalty when they admit to reapplying to work for Dan.

Elsewhere, Judith does some soul searching, and Orla discovers that Wayne has a secret

The doorbell rings at the Brennan household and Niamh answers it. She is surprised as big burly man forces his way through the door. Jane comes face-to-face with Gary, the angry moneylender who wants what she owes him immediately. Paul arrives on the scene and is livid to discover a threatening loan shark in his house. He escorts Gary off the premises and warns him off returning.

Niamh decides the only way to help Jane is to pay off the loan shark. Paul thinks they will be able to buy Jane off and get rid of her for good, but Niamh isn't so sure it will be that easy. Paul gives Jane a cheque to clear her debt and warns her to never put his family in danger again. He says that she needs to get a job and somewhere to live as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, after conducting interviews, Dan ushers Laura and Sean into his office for a chat. Dan, Laura and Sean share a celebratory glass of bubbly as he toasts to his new employees, who have passed their interviews with flying colours. Dan offers Caoimhe a drink, but she is unable to swallow her pride and stubbornly declines.

Elsewhere, Wayne struggles to let go of his possessions.

Not necessarily. The inconsistencies in the statements of Viv and Charlotte could be easily explained away by a defence lawyer at a trial. Furthermore, Paddy was a convicted murderer who was known to have been violent to his wife and was wanted for Conor's murder. Therefore, it's not implausible for the DPP to decide that there was not a realistic prospect of achieving a conviction and that it was not in the public interest to prosecute. The DPP makes such a decision all the time in real life.

An inquest would be months away. The fact that Viv and Charlotte are out of the country means that they cannot be compelled to testify at it.

sorry, but i completely disagree. The chronology of the questioning and the expediency at which the dpp allegedly decided not to pursue the case given that , as was referred to on the show, it was highly publicised in the papers , makes no sense legally .

    Maybe im missing something though

Speaking of Barry O, surely it must be time for a parole hearing by now.

I met her the other week and asked her - she's enjoying being a new mammy - she looked terrific - I nearly didn't recognise her without her oversized bag.

The way Caoimhe and Judtth were talking you would swear they had lived in that house for 20 years. They only moved there back in 2009 or 2010.
