Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wasn't gonna bother doing this but with the savings on burgers and chicken wings being locked at home the last month and a half I couldn't pass up on this when it came up in Millsport. 1199 Superleggera TTX with overpriced titanium spring! :pac:

That's a lot of burgers & Chicken Wings. Sure there's some Pizza in there to. Nice.

Makes my Hyper pro (in the post) look positively low rent.

It wasn't new - the price of a new one would make you cry. The spring alone is around 1000 quid

Hey no judgement here:) Beats indoor skiing or paddy power! Still an addiction mind:D
What's the thinking with the ti spring? Is it just grams saved or is there something else? I wouldn't have thought it was a good choice for a spring but then again I'm not a metallurgist! Whats the rate and your weight?
I'm gonna go with........ 1399gbp, hotter or colder?

    Speaking of Tigers.
I gave a loan of my 1050 to my Brother one time and when he brought it back, he asked me would I sell it.
I said it wasn't for sale so we went off and got him one instead. Full proper luggage as well.

Had a Caspian Blue 1050 prior to the 800. Bought sight unseen from UK dealer and rode back in 2009. Great machine but just a little top heavy for me so the 800 was an easy buy.

I wish I took a vid of how you can really throw them around when needs be.
My brother would be more into cruisers.
He has a Valkyrie, Harley and a few other yokes.
I think he prefers the tiger now although that wouldn't be hard :pac:

Nice machines that make sense on our roads.

Had a tdm900 before the Tiger which I wish I hung on to it.
There's was days on the tdm that when I arrived home I'd just keep going and stay on it another hour or so.
    Loved it.
    Your Dr finished??

I'd say it was the only tdm with ohlins:P
Doctor DR has had all the things I wanted to refurbish, paint, rebuild, modify/improve done. I need to buy chain and sprok and front line to match the four pot calipers banjo angle outlet, then it's put humpty back together. Should be back together in a month? Hopefully my carb jetting and engine work were OK.

800 sterling - so not too bad. The spring is purely weight saving as the Superlegerra was lightweight bits all over trying to justify the crazy asking price. Luckily enough the spring is exactly the rate I need - not as if I'd replace!

It's tricky but doable if you apply logic and like solving puzzles:) Ensuring lacing pattern and disc offset set you up well for truing. Truing is the witchcraft but the two main culprits can be fixed (mostly) with two basic techniques.

That's cheaper than I reckoned but yeah still more expensive than the Dr I bought:pac:
Result on the rate being a match!

Bought these forks brand new about a year from a company here.
Fitted them last summer, and bike was used commuting from September to March. In bits already. Never had this issue with other bikes forks.
S**ty quality or did i miss doing something????

  • Registered Users Posts: 217 ✭✭KildareMan

If that's a year or less I'd say poor quality chrome finish. For protection though I tend to ACF50 everything.

As you say the basics are all there with her being low mile. The swinger, fork lowers and engine all look sweet, loving the polished fins. My pj1 fastback efforts in the past never looked as plush as that hence why my engine (and plastics) are with Ger at the mo.
What's the craic with the system, stock or will you bang something stainless on her? Can or oem? Always nice to go stainless.
    Did the carbs need work?
Sorry, ton of questions as I enjoy this craic.

Was the motor quiet before the project, will you do the valves?

    Gsx 1400
Got it as a ball of s**t and fixed it myself. Bike doesn't look perfect but I had used it for 140 km a day for commuting before this lockdown . Had to reuse and clean some parts or get some used parts that wouldnt look the best. Finding parts for this bike wasn't easy :P

Wouldn't necessarily mean they'd be any better now.

I know someone that gets their chrome done in Poland.
Not happy with the standard in Ireland or UK apparently.

Just actually had a look through my old emails and seen it could be from PT forks from Italy apparently.
Not sure on there quality meself.
Tho ive ordered plenty of stuff from motorcycleshop over the years and never had an issue with quality bar these forks.

Would you not contact Lee motorcycles about them.
They should be interested in the quality of them.

I did and they waited for a reply from the supplier, and was told that they wouldn't cover the damage as chrome is susceptible to rust in the winter.(knew they wouldn't cover it).
Even the old original fork tubes from 2002 that were on the bike originally didn't seem as pitted or rusted as these are now .lol
They said they could see if they can get a reduced price for me on new forks but I didn't get a chance to reply back to them
