I've had work done a couple of years ago in O Hara's at Ballybricken I think it was. Was back to them within 6 months as one of their fillings fell out.. within 6 months of that it fell out again..

I have bared with it until now but I think it's time to get something done about it. Can anyone recommend a good dentist with reasonable rates in the Waterford City or Ardkeen area?

Also does anyone know the general price in the City for both a filling and an extraction?

Try Ronan Fox on O Connell Street hes very good and puts you at ease when talkig about extractions etc. But dont go to the one upstairs, shes a right ignorant bitch.

Based on a recommendation here the last time this topic came up I went to Noelene Walsh down in O'Connell st. http://waterfordcitydentist.com/

Best dentist I've ever dealt with.

The guy out in the brasscock is up there among the worst for me anyway.

Been with williamstown dentists for the last 10 years, I see the same guy, Gus. He set the place up. Really nice guy and knows his stuff. Couldn't recommend him enough

x 2 for DERMOT CROWLEY in ardkeen stores upstairs, Hes great, very polite nice man to deal with, he could have got me to undergo alot of work for alot of money but told me i didnt need it done,

I was also with Ohara's and wasnt happy with them,

However dont forget everybodies bite is different and sometimes at night we grind out teeth, especially if theres been alcohol taken, Do you grind your teeth? you might not even know you do, that would do damage to fillings.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.. No I'm not a teeth grinder or a drinker.. The first filling came out while I was eating a soft sweet (not a habit) and the second one crumbled away during equally leisurely chewing.. O' Hara's pulled out 1 on my top right and 2 on my bottom right a couple of years ago (long story) so chewing on that side is a futile effort which means the left side (side of the elusive filling) gets used for about 75% + of my chewing

When I went back to O' Haras to get the second filling, I told him I didnt mind the pain of getting a filling so there was no need for anesthetic and he could just work away.. He said OK and did the filling. But then once he had finished he told me that because I didnt use the anesthetic, he couldn't administer the filling properly so it was not very strong.. Why he waited until AFTER the job was done to tell me this I don't know..

I wasn't overly impressed by their hygiene eithter

Crikey Simon, that sounds awful. I hate professionals who play god at the expense of your well being. I once had an experience with a clown practising in town (vicinity of the brass cock) who looked at the music t shirt I was wearing, recognised that some members of the band were drug users and insisted on clove oil for an extraction in case I was also a junkie (not the case). Nope, if you are the customer then they do the job right or 'jog on' for payment.

I go here http://www.waterforddentist.ie/. Maurice O'Brien, have done for years and was with his father before him. Never had any problems and find them very pleasent and helpful.

Go to Noleen Walsh on O Connell Street, across the road from the post office, I've been to alot of butchers in Waterford over the years until I found this woman, very good at her job, would highly recommend her to anyone.

I was seeing himself and Noelene for a few years after switching from the Butcher. Two of them are great.
Due to them not being open on Sat's I have had to switch to Philip Christie. No complaints either

Have been into Gus Papathomas in Williamstown and another dentist there Cullinane? Both were excellent.

If you cant get David Touhy... try Ken Power. He has surgery in Ballybricken. Anyone David Touhy had working for him was nearly as good as himself. David's son Trealach specialises in cosmethic dentistry
