Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't think it was a red card. He wasn't stopping a goalscoring opportunity because Tevez was going to get there first.

    Worst peno ever.

    very harsh red card

It's about time that Ref's showed some balls and started giving decision's / red's like that! Every other game we see players wrongly get away with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,118 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

Another superstar ref trying to make the papers tomorrow. Absolute joker.

"Despite waiting a second or two, he immediately points to the spot."

What is Niall Quinn on? Clear peno, harsh red imo.

I agree, a couple of matches finishing 3 v 5 and they'll stop it. It's ridiculous doing it 1% of the time though.

Good decision by the ref there, ball was falling for Dzekos feet until he was dragged down and Tevez could only manage a stretching header right at the goal keeper.

seriously? he got it spot on, even letting the advantage go to see if tevez scored.

    Best penalty save ever!

Dunno what Koscielny was thinking though. Won't be much of a second half to this now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52,435 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

Have seen that sort of thing happen in the United and Chelsea penalty areas dozens of times. Never saw a penalty given for it there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

I don't think it should have been a red given the fact that dzeko wasn't in control of the ball. Good call otherwise and good stop.

Another game ruined by a penalty AND red card. Stupid ruling - either give a penalty and a yellow card OR a red card if it's outside the box.

To me it looks like Dzeko was fouling Koscielny first. The red card was harsh because Dzeko looked to have little interest in getting to the ball.

Sorry but it was a deliberate and brazen foul on the last man. Not only was it absolutely the correct decision, it was an excellent spot by the ref.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 704 ✭✭✭frisbeeface

Surely the red can't have been for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity when Tevez still had one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,994 ✭✭✭KingdomYid

OMG Quinn is driving me nuts already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,019 ✭✭✭✭adox

    It was a red IMO.

Alan Parry's red card/penalty theory might be the most inane thing I've ever heard on football commentary.

Never a red. The fouled player want denieda goal scoring opportunity.
