German or French easist to get a D3 in ordinary?

As a few of my UK university applicants have fell threw I am aiming to make Trinity my safety university and as a result I will need a language. I have not done either of the two before. I am wondering what the best language would be to get the D3 with the least amount of time inputted, and if anyone could provide any good resources it would be of great help to me and others in the same situation. Any other language asides from German and French is up for consideration as well, should have not made such a closed ended title -_-

You know for Trinity, Irish counts as the other language needed for matriculation purposes.

I do not do Irish due to being originally from the UK sadly, and they said I do not qualify for a language waiver.

Just from talking to my friends in German (I do French.), they say German is very hard while we in French are moving along comfortably enough. Of course this might just be dependent on the teachers in our school but I think French is a very structured language and a nicer one to speak than German.

LC Russian and Japanese presume the candidate has followed a two year course of study.

In theory, I suppose they would be 'easier' than French, German, Italian or Spanish which presume five years.

Are you going for LC 2013 or 2014? If 2014, then Russian would be very do-able if you found a good teacher.

LC 2013. I am trying to avoid those languages due to the immense difficulty of them.

Once you get past the alphabet, Russian's not that difficult to get a low mark like a D3 in.

Hmm the problem with Russian is, I have no friends who can speak it, while I have friends who do German and French. There also seems to be less resources for learning Russian If you could point me in the right direction to some stuff I can consider I guess.
