Just wanted to say thank you to all contributers on this forum, particularly Koolkid and Altor for all their advice which has really helped me.

We moved into a new house with a Aritech CS450 installed. I wanted to fit a pet friendly PIR and change the codes to suit ourselves. I called an alarm "specialist" who is registered who proceeded to make a mess of it including blowing fuses, shorting the battery and being unable to change the codes! Their advice was to install a new panel and key pad.......which they just so happened to be able to supply

Anyway, with the help of all the advice on this forum, I managed to reset the panel, replace the battery and fuses and re-program the panel. Thanks so much to all.

    Glad we could help.
It amazes me how simple jobs can be made into something bigger. Lucky enough you stuck to your guns and sorted out the system yourself. So many rouge traders are still working in this industry.

I am toying with the idea of upgrading to a wired/wireless panel to allow me to add the upstairs windows (currently only downstairs is wired for the alarm). Would it be possible to do a direct swap out for either a HKC or Siemens panel?

Ideally I would like to connect to the panel via a pc/online and remotely. I don't think the HKC SW-1070 offers this at the moment. Is the SPC4000 the best option.

    Many thanks for the help.

The HKC should be able to do this in a month or 2 . But at the moment it's the Siemens that'll do it

Yep Siemens is the only one up to that for now.

    Quick question if I could......

I have reprogrammed the panel, but for some reason, the PIR seems to be activating without anyone in the house. Do I need to define any attributes etc to the zone with the PIR? The alarm is the Aritech CS450.

    Thanks for your help!

It shouldn't be. If its constantly activating & everything seems fine you mey need to replace it. I'm presuming the PiR is on its own zone & nothing else is on with it.

Yep PIR is on it's own zone and it's brand new. This was supplied and installed by the same alarm crowd so may be something there.

Edit: The PIR is made by Bosch.....would this be an issue?

No issue with the make. Is it looking straight at a window?

Anything moving around in front of the detector, any vents near it, is it the same time of day or just random times?

    Thanks for the replies!!!

It seems to be random. Took it down and checked the connections and made sure a spider hadn't taken up residence......will take another look tonight.

It's not pointing at a window but it is pointing at an internal door that does have some glass in it. Would glass affect it???

Motion detectors work by picking up temperature changes and movement in an area being covered. If pointing directly at glass it could give off false alarms if there was temperature change.
The reason I asked about random times is it is more likely an environment issue if it was. Try directing the motion more into the area than looking direct at the glass.

Try masking out the entire lens with insulating tape. If it still activates after that there's a good chance its the unit itself that's faulty. Where possible try not to have a PiR facing glass or else install a duel tec.
