I'm in the middle of extensive renovations to my home and about to approach them about further financing.
Should I have informed them about the renovations?
The value of my property has increased a lot (so i'm told) since I got my mortgage.

It has more implications for your house insurance really, if that is held through the bank then yes they should be informed, however from the point of view of financing it is usually better to get approval before starting. Assume all is being done correctly with professionals available for sign off re planning, regs etc, if so then it may not be an issue.
