    Does unticking ie, removing the print server from the tasksel command box meaning that it will interfer with a printer installation ie, standalone printer or are the two related because I've been trying too untick this box and all I get is a error message.............any help would be appreciated. ERROR DbDriver "passwords" warning: could not open /var/cache/debconf/passwords.dat: Permission denied DbDriver "passwords" warning: could not open /var/cache/debconf/passwords.dat: Permission denied DbDriver "config": could not write /var/cache/debconf/config.dat-new: Permission denied tasksel: debconf failed to run

    Linux systems are all multiuser systems for the printing services are called print servers ... so yes they are connected.

    Depending on the distribution you are using, you might need to make such changes with the root user. With Ubuntu and those derived from it the default users are giving something called "sudo rights". This allows them to attain root access using the sudo command. Then admin changes would usually prompt the user for theh password to confirm access to sudo.... for ubuntu system. Other systems would require you to login as root.
