    Happy Chinese for Children is designed inline with the online course Happy Chinese developed by the Confucius Institute Headquarters, aimed at letting young learners pick up Chinese language and culture in a relaxed and light-hearted atmosphere.

    The teacher will motivate the young learners with various hands-on activities, games, songs and exercises within each lesson while teaching the children basic communication skills.

    The course will provide sustainable learning opportunities at beginner level, which will help young learners form a foundation for future studies up to advanced level. The course is associated with UCC Confucius Institute.


    At the end of the course, young learners will be able to

    Greet and address each other and family members with different titles

    Name food, drinks and pets familiar in their daily life

    Express needs and feelings

    Understand and answer simple questions about their lives, e.g. age, nationality, hobbies, etc

    Identify typical Chinese cultural elements, such as food, festivals, arts and handicrafts, etc

    Sing songs about greeting words, numbers, body parts

    Read and write basic strokes and pinyin for words they have learned

    Hello; Greeting Song

    What’s your name; vowels; make a Chinese new year fan

    Where is your home; make flags

    My Family; draw a family tree

    Small cat and big dog; draw a panda with Chinese calligraphy brush

    Numbers; Number Song

    Age and Zodiac; paper cutting

    I want+ fruits; chopsticks game

    Drinking; make lanterns

    Review; kick shuttlecock


    Entry Requirements

    Children between 5 to 13 years old, who have never learned Chinese before and can not read Pinyin or Chinese characters.


    Progression and Employment Opportunities

    Learners who complete 50 hours learning will have the knowledge to take the Youth Chinese Test I. The Youth Chinese Test is a standardized international Chinese proficiency test, directed at examining non-native primary and secondary school students’ capability in applying Chinese language in their studies and personal lives.

    Chinese Language and Culture for Business

    This course is designed for companies and employees that are having or preparing to make business contacts with Chinese companies.

    You will gain insight into Chinese business culture and master essential communication skills in a business environment. The course can be tailored from beginner’s level to advanced level, or alternatively culture or language orientation.

    Classes will be taught by native Chinese speakers associated with UCC Confucius Institute. A certificate approved by UCC Confucius Institute will be issued to the learners who complete the course.

    On completion of the course you will be able to

    Introduce themselves and others in business settings

    Understand and answer simple questions about their jobs, nationalities, telephone numbers, etc

    Communicate in Chinese with essential expressions on work related arrangements and needs

    Identify business etiquettes, culture differences, taboos and tips in contemporary Chinese society

    Entry Requirements
    There is no entry requirement for this course. The course is designed for non-native Chinese speakers and is suitable for complete beginners and elementary level learners.
