Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Fast becoming a soap opera!

Has benitez been sacked yet. RDM was sacked after a few bad results, we have been worse under benitez yet he is still in charge. Makes no sense roman.

We should be able to come back into this, a few tactical changes to the midfield (obvious to all) should sort it.

Tbf Lampard was never a great number 10 and his shift to a more defensive position was always likely. Ramires is a box to box midfielder but is really slack on the ball.

The best position for both is slightly higher up the field, playing them so deep results in a highly disfunctional midfield IMO. Surely the tactical genious benny can see this

The problems we have are much bigger than Benitez unfortunately.

At this stage its like the Beckett play, Waiting for Godot.

We were waiting for Pep, now waiting for Jose so we should eventually get round to Godot as well.

    I blame the interim manager

So you credit him for the second half so far then?

Ball is not bouncing true on the pitch

    Penalty for Brentford

    Penalty.... and only a yellow...

    Turnbull has looked terrible

    GOAL!!! Can they hold on?

    surely Ba time?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Forget Turnbull, Ramires giving the ball away so cheaply in midfield. Pathetic.

You can bet if a chelsea player did it he would have branded the player a disgrace:rolleyes:

Needing a goal take off your right back who can score and put on a right back yet to score.

What's a bouncing ball got to do with Brentford beating Chelsea ?

Well done again the interim manager.

We should batter this lot on a decent pitch at stamford bridge

Penalty for a dive, sponge pitch, no penalty for clear handball that Ramires was penalised for seconds earlier...

Would Benitez have survived that had Chelsea lost ?.

    Probably not

Surely that's a penalty for handball at the end? Rafa will be annoyed that it's another game on the scheduled. Still though they should be beaten relatively easily at Stamford Bridge.

Mata is my pick for our best player on the day. Made a huge difference when he came on. Cracking goals by Oscar and Torres. The Lampard/Ramires midfield depresses me.

In fairness we were abolutely **** today & still got away with a draw, we should of had a penalty at the end too.

I think we'll beat them easily at the bridge. Does anyone know when the replay will be on?

No question, we got of jail but take it and move on.
As for Marin, looks like we were definitely sold a pup there.

Marin was very poor today but so were probably 8 or 9 players, if we had a bigger squad, it would be good to get him a loan till the end of the season to get a run of games.

Would have hoped not, and would have been the one bit of good news about losing, fortunately he won't get another contract after this abject failure of a tenure so far anyway.

Regardless of his goal, Torres was dire today and needs to be sold, part exchanged, given away in a raffle asap.

On another note, I think fans are beginning to stay away as I have never got as many emails about tickets being on general sale as I have this season*

*well that's my perception anyway, maybe its the same and my bitterness about Benitez, and increasingly Torres is clouding my memory!

How about we sack whoever was responsible for hiring Benitez?

RA ? He's made heaps of poor decisions, but where would you be without him ?

I think it was more emenalo who wanted benitez. Apparently the two of them know each other from somewhere:confused: and emenalo recommended hiring him to replace RDM

Here's one for ye, Chelsea haven't won a single game this season when Mata hasn't been in the started. This interesting stat shows just how poor we are when he isn't on. He is the engine of the team, the new Lampard so to speak.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,808 ✭✭✭Caveman1

Benitez has confirmed that there will be no more signings made during this transfer window.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,071 ✭✭✭TheStook

I'm not too fussed about that result, shocking pitch and some poor decisions. And it was always gonna be a tough game for us..
But enough excuses, If we dont trounce these at the bridge it's goodnight Vienna for rafa

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,527 ✭✭✭RichT

    Rafa is a tactical genius!

With 10 minutes to go and needing a goal, he brings on another striker. One striker chests the ball down to the other striker, who in turn feeds a perfect pass to the a fore mentioned striker resulting in........GOAL!

    Who'd ave thought it?

Next round is the weekend of Feb 16, so could be wrong but I think the only time we can play it is the 6th Feb. If we get through, should be a Sunday tie as we're in Prague on the Thursday night before it.

    We might not.

Brentford have better chance to do us at the Bridge. Atmosphere there is poisonous now thanks to the interim manager.

Watched the game on a foreign channel today. The commentators picked up on this. We are are getting better results away from home at the moment.

    AWAY form..............
    Brentford draw:mad:
    Stoke Win:D
    Southampton Win:D
    Swansea draw:mad:

    HOME
    QPR loss:mad:
    Swansea loss:mad:
    Southampton draw:mad:

Jesus, that's really ugly stuff. Whatever about frustration though, if Benitez is forced out prematurely for another interim, CFC could simply end up being unmanageable. There's the club's longer term reputation to consider too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

We have a terrible reputation already for managers; since 2004, several world class and a couple of very good managers have come and gone. The world class ones would be José, Carlo and Guus (albeit he left of his own free will; I'll always believe not enough was done to keep him). The very good ones would have been Ranieri, DiMatteo (given more time, who knows) and AVB (same as DiMatteo). Scolari and Grant were never any great shakes.

The fact is, we've gone through more managers in 10 years or so than most clubs go through in 25 years or more. It's a sick fact.

Obvious fact is obvious: José should never have been let go in the first place; failing that, Carlo should never have been let go.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,325 ✭✭✭✭Dozen Wicked Words

Whatever the reputation Chelsea have with managers, Benitez apart, the fans have never given out that much abuse (in recent years anyway). AVB, Grant and Scolari got off fairly lightly. The reputation has nothing to do with the fans and everything to do with the owner.

The fans feelings toward Rafa started at zero and went down.

Prospective managers needn't worry, there's a nice big pay off for them one way or the other.

Benitez has confirmed there will be no more incoming transfers for Chelsea this January.

Because unlike Roman and his "advisors", we know what he did to Inter.
Turned them from a winning team to a medicore one, going out of every competition and along the way increased training which led to injurys. Got his tactics totally wrong against spurs. Sound familier?
