Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know of any sites around White City that could be big enough for a 50-60K Football Stadium?

with a bulldozer and a wrecking ball there are plenty of sites :)

True, with enough cash you can make problems go away as they say, but I've heard and I could be miles off, that building regulation and permits in the UK can be a real pain in the arse, lots of red tape and crossing the t's and dotting the i's, alot worse then what we have to get around in Ireland.

The main excuse the Tube which runs so close to the stadium, any building work could cause disruption to a busy line.

I think and I could be wrong also is that the West Stand is the highest it can also due to regulations.

We seem to be going backwards - The Bridge had a crowd of 100,000 in 1945 for the game with Moscow Dynamo :)

Can't find it but read an interesting article the other day speculation why Chelsea changed their mind on FFP in the Premier league. Seemed to think we may be eying the site at White City but that would mean QPR would have to move from Shepherds Bush which given their severe ground limitations they could.
Was written by an Arsenal blog somewhere a bit out of left field but you never know.
If we want a bigger ground the probability is it will not be the Bridge

Depending upon where it is actually located White City has a close tube station on the central line, spent many a night there waiting for a train to Ealing Broadway. It used to have a stadium as well of course well known for dogs and stock car racing. Was also the venue I believe for the Monty Phyton sketch of philosophers football match. Attended many stock car races there good venue it was, I know it has been closed for some time but not sure if redeveloped.

Thats a crazy theory by any standards.
We agreed to the new rules because they are watered down from what the original "gang of four" wanted. clubs can still make a loss.
Plus, we will never again have to spend in the way we did at the start by buying 2 whole teams effectively. We have the nucleus of a good squad and just add to that in the normal way every season.
They are not going to make much difference.

Weve looked at white city before, in 2011, while its the best option as its in the same borough, thanks to the greedy incompent council, its the pricest option, something like 220 million just for the land alone.
Arsenal managed to build a stadium including the land for 350 million

As gourlay has repeatedly, said we dont NEED to move to break even and profit, its just the wisest thing to do

The White City location that they're considering is a parcel of land next to the mega Westfield shopping centre. It's next to the A40 and well served by two tube stations, but a bit of a distance from the Bridge location. Much nearer to QPR than Chelsea in point of fact, which might suggest ground-sharing and shared costs.

Once again, and it lasted a lot shorter than most times this time, a 2 goal lead is pegged back FAR too easily. If a kid in an U-10 game made the same errors as Ivan and Cech there, you'd be screaming your lungs up at him for being so daft. It's laughable how bad our defence has gotten.
